My lil Ragdoll Ana stays inside all the time. I was warned by the breeder that Ragdolls are super friendly and hardly attack even to defend themselves. This has proven to be true with Ana any time someone new comes over person or dog she rolls on her back with her belly exposed almost saying “Pet my tummy pweeeese!” This would not go well if she ever went outside and got lost.

I am glad the kitty found its home! But it is sad you coulnt keep her 🙁

All of my cats are indoors only. I don’t have the temperament to have outside cats; I would spend all of my time worrying if they were coming home or not.

I guess our opinions are the products of our experiences. Neither of the cats I rescued were micro chipped. Domino was terrified of people and spent the whole first month with us hiding under our bed. He is still afraid of things like somebody putting on a belt, my husband sneezing or opening a plastic bag….things he was unlikely to learn to be afraid of while out on his own. Brandy was on her second or third litter of kittens, according to the vet. The only reason I would have liked to find the previous owners would be to have given them a piece of my mind. 😡

My cat started as an indoor cat, but here he likes to go outside. He is microchipped and fixed, though. I dont think un-fixed cats should be allowed to roam around outside. There are too many cats and kittens in the shelters. Also, if you dont put in a chip or at least a tag w/collar, then if he is picked up by anyone, the chances of him getting back to the original owner are a lot slimmer. Of course, if people who found them would turn them into the HS, then they would probably be a lot easier to find… and they would get fixed. 😕

I could never let my cats be indoor/outdoor, just could not take that risk. There are SO many things that can happen and I do NOT trust people to be kind to animals. Keeping them inside I also know they aren’t going to come in contact with strays/ferals that might have feline lukemia, etc. I start freaking out if I don’t see my two feral cats every night. 🙄

Ski each situation is different I do understand
this kitty was such a LOVER though I can’t believe that her owner did not keep better care for her
I know I freak out if I think one of my cats got out on my front pourch when I was not paying attention to the front door.
          I’m just a worrier I guess
I’m glad she is on her way home though

I think it depends on where you live too, I am a block away from the elementary school, and the highschool is right across the street from that. So there are idiots speeding down the street when school gets out, lots of kids walking past-etc. My mom lives in WA and has a little land around her, back off the busy roads-etc, so her cats are allowed to go out. One of the strays she’d been feeding for months decided to move in, just started comming in with her two cats-lol

Eleu, I would not let my cat out in that area either. Here, we are a really small community so I dont worry too much. Plus, my cat avoids cars very well. Whenever we go on a walk he follows along, but when a car comes, he trots up the nearest tree. Im def not worried about kids catching him either because he is not people friendly. If he was, I would probably keep in inside just because of the likelyhood of him getting stolen.

Aww, you’ve got a smart kitty Ski! Not sure what mine would do if they ever saw a car or human. I know Callie would run and hide, she’s terrified of strangers-but Sneezer is SUCH a little flirt he might go up to anyone. 🙄 I’m just such a worrier, the only way I’d let mine out is if I lived in the middle of no where and had a fenced in area-from the sides AND top! 😳

Oh gosh, Harley is pathetic. He has to be indoor–he’ll go belly up to anyone for scratches.

Sorry about your kitty Ski–I really hope you’re able to find her.

Good to find out that at least the calico was chipped. Maybe she was well-taken care of and got roughed up between home and Dragon. It is true that they cared enough to chip her.

I’m glad the calico was chipped too. She sounded so friendly and sweet. I’m glad her owners are taking her back home.

I’m glad you found the owners. I hope they are happy to have her back, and didn’t just let her go, though. Lately, it seems a lot of people who can’t afford their animals just let them go, or take them to shelters, instead of trying to find good homes for them. And there was a horrible story in our local news lately about a poor door that some vile people attacked with machetes!!! 🙁 The dog lived because he was saved by a nice man, and he lived. But here’s the thing…he was microchipped! And when they tried to tack the owner, they found out the name on the chip was fake and the address was a motel. Why on earth would you bother to chip an animal and then abandon it?!
We’ve rescued like 3 cats, and none of them were chipped. 2 of them were obviously abandoned as well. 1 baby was running at cars in the parking lots trying to get into one… 🙁 And the other was so friendly he just walked up to people, begging for pets. The kicker is that after we’d searched for his owners for like two months, gave up, got him his shots, and fixed, one of his owners, a little boy showed up, tried to take the cat back, and when we asked to speak with his mother, she said that the cat had “gotten out” and that they were moving to a place with no cats, and couldn’t keep him anyway, so we could have him. How “convienient” that the cat “escaped”?

Our cats were all indoor/outdoor cats for 20 plus years. All spayed or neutered. We lived in small towns or in the country. We had one that lived to be 26 and we only lost one in all that time. Than we moved here (GA) and lost two cats the first year. One was shot by a pellet gun (neighbor kid)and the other harassed to death by their dogs. Now they are strictly indoor cats. I’d love to let them roam outside during the day but it’s just not a good idea here. It does make a huge difference where you live and the type of neighbors you have. 🙁 Our neighbors suck when it comes to animals. They have plenty of dogs, so do we, but ours go to the Vet and are either indoors or on runners outside.

They probably do take good care of her and she just got out and lost. That happens a lot with cats as they are so independent We’ve had cats that have done that. Sadly one was killed by the neighbors dogs. The other came back after a few weeks thin and dirty. She has not tried to go out since 🙂 If they don’t want her hopefully the Vet will call you asap.

DM, I am also glad that little kitty was microchipped, at least it means that someone cares about her, and like others have said pets do escape sometimes you have to think the best of people.

Personally I think that cats should have to be contained just as dogs should be, our cat is strictly indoors, I would let him outside if we had a kitty encloser though. I dont like finding cat crap in my flowers when I know my cat did not do it. They should be fenced in or leashed.

It’s MUCH healthier for the cats to live indoors ayway. Away from fleas, cars real fights etc.
I do understand about running outside and they can lose weight that way too but I personally would be a nervous wreck waiting up every night until all my babies where home safe and sound but that is just the way I am
I’m going to call the vet later today to see if her office has had contact from her owner. The chips place, Avid I think it was, knew she was a Calico and said they knew her name I’m not sure how much I believe that Calico could have just come up on a computer screen along with he name
With my luck she has been picked up already
I did tell the vet that now that she knows how to get to my house if she shows up again she is MINE!!
