Okay, so the job thing is a “maybe” but I have a good feeling about it, and my “feelings”, good or bad, usually turn up true 🙂
Since the house thing is for sure, I’ll talk about that first-my family is moving! We’re not too happy about it, but it’s one of those things, ya know. But, sine we figure we have to, we might as well GET happy about it lol The house we’re moving to is about half the size of the one we’re in now, and he backyard is less than half the size (my Husky won’t be thrilled about that) but it’s a little nicer-it’s got granite countertops, and a cute little porch on the front-and it’s BRAND NEW, no one has lived in it yet, so that’s exciting. It’s a BEAUTIFUL house, it’s just VERY very small, compared to the house we’re in now, and the one we lived in prior. The bedrooms are smaller than my college dorm rooms have been. :
But regardless, the whole concept of moving and a new house (at least new to us) is exciting-trying to think where we’ll put everything, what colors to paint, how we will landscape the backyard, and what kinds of things to plant. My mother and I both want a garden, so tonight we were thinking up things to plant in it, and how to keep bugs off my strawberry plants I want to have. 🙂
My family has also lived in the same city for the last 12-15 years, and now we’re moving out! The new house isn’t super far away, less than 10 miles, but we won’t get to shop at the same Walmart, or same HEB groccery store, return movies to the same Blockbuster-things like that. The town we’re moving to has a reputation for being a farm town, whereas we live in suburbia right now lol
The new job-well I’ll start from the beginning. I’m going to Switzerland to visit GB (HOORAY!!) in early May, and since I’m in a “minimum wage” job now, I know I don’t want to be there forever. It’s been fun, but lately I’ve grown tired of it. (I work for Dominos delivering pizzas) Plus, I spend about $300/month on gas 😯 I’ve averaged 442 miles per week since I got my car last July.
Well anyways, so I put in my two weeks notice to quit because I’m going out of town. Everyone has told me it’s a little silly to quit just for that reason, but the way I see it, is that it’s more motivation to try and get a job I can make a career out of.
So, one day I realize I’m down to my last bit of money (aside from savings) and I have to make it last till June. Panicking, I call my friend Jeremy for some comforting words. He says his brother works for Gulf States Toyota, and that they pay decent, and cover your expenses for traveling. He gives me the email address of one of the big bosses at Toyota and I send him an email. About 2-3 weeks later, I get a call from one of the boss’s minions, wanting to set up an interview this week! 😀
The interiew was on Thursday, and I think I did fairly well. I didn’t think to have questions to ask the interviewer, and I may have stumbled over a few answers, but I tried to appear confident in body language at least.
If I get the job, I’d be part of ther Street Team, which, in a nutshell, is their sales and advertising team. I’d be riding around Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Lousiana, promoting whatever new vehicle Toyota is pushing that month (right now they’re pushing their 1/2 ton Tundra truck) going around to (I’m guessing) car shows, other dealerships and similar venues saying “Oh look at the [Tundra] isn’t it cool, it can do this and that and the other thing too! You should get some!” Because when any of the Toyota dealerships in the 5 mentioned states want to buy new cars or trucks, they go to Gulf States Toyota.
It sounds like a lot of fun, (lots of traveling) and definatly opportunities to move up. I’ve wanted to work for a big company like this for a while, I just figured I’d be in their graphics department (was studying to be a graphic designer). I’m not sure when I’ll hear back, but it was agreed that if I didn’t hear back in a week or two, that I should contact them again and see what’s up. Either way, I’m really excited! (And trying not to be even more excited just in case…) 😀

Best of luck on the job. If they don’t call you, call them time and again until they hire you! It seems to me nowadays that they hire the person that pesters them the most. Everyone can correct me if I’m wrong….I have been in the same company for 15 years.

April 13, 2008 at 5:53 am #689083Congratulations Wolfen, on the new job! I don’t think traveling is a silly reason to quit at all! And also, congratulations on the new home! I hope you like it! And please, if you find a way to keep bugs off your strawberries would you please pass it on? I currently just try to pick mine before the snails and slugs get to them (and they will get to them 👿 ). YEA I KNOW! I’ve been watching tidbits of the news, and I think one day they said they cancled the flights of more than like 10,000 people O.O
Thanks everyone! I’ve never even been out of Texas, so I’m super excited to see far away places 🙂
Don’t worry Ski, I will pat the ponies for you 🙂
It looks like we might be moving sooner than even originally thought. I came home today and my mother was already hardcore packing up things in the living room. We close on April 17, providing everything goes as planned 😯
