I dont think he realizes just how big he is….he tries to fit himself into the recliner with me and the computer….and the chair isnt quite big enough. πŸ˜† He is truly a lap dog…he takes any opportunity to put his head, or whole body, into your lap. πŸ˜€

Over time he should get over his fears. I would recommend not hitting him… most dogs, esp smart ones, do well enough with a scolding and dont need to be spanked. I am sure you know what you’re doing. πŸ˜† He will come around in time.

I would never strike any of my animals…I may put him outside for a time out if he’s bad…but so far he’s been the best behaved animal I’ve ever met. I’ve used a water spritzer on my cats, but nothing beyond that. πŸ™‚

He’s a big cuddly baby, and we’re overjoyed to have him, thanks for all your congrats! I feel so lucky that we found him, he’s like the perfect dog for us. We decided that our family would only get one dog, IF we got one, so I’m really glad he’s so awesome. πŸ˜€

Yay! Good for you for adopting!! He looks like such a sweetie!!

The Look – ah yes, the ‘make my people feel guilty’ look. Most dogs master that pretty quick! with our dog we call it ‘Sad Eyes’

As for loud noises, some of that will go away when he gets used to you and your family. Make sure there is a safe place (for our dog it is under the bed) he can go if there is thunder or fireworks. I’ve seen alot of dogs afraid of thunder, I don’t think they understand where that scary noise is coming from.

Our Dog is a rescue (neglect and abuse) and it took him probably 3 months before he started to feel comfortable around us, until that ‘they aren’t going to hurt me’ idea took hold and probably 6 months before he was completely comfortable here. Though with the SPCA having had him first, he’s got a good start with learning that most people are nice. Just take it slow. Also, check with your humane society, they may have classes that you can take with the whole family! Ours is an ‘anything you could possibly want to know or need to do with a domestic critter’ place with wonderful people who will do anything to help you with your pet

Yeah, the lady who handled his adoption was really nice, and gave us her number just in case we had questions. πŸ˜€ Other than being a big moocher for people food, he’s perfect for us, and is fitting in great. He seems less afraid today, and hasnt went to hide once. πŸ˜€

Every Lab or Lab cross I’ve ever met is a people food moocher. If you’ve eating it it must be better than my food LOL. Mine comes running from anywhere in the house when the fridge opens
