The front had moved in some time during the night. It was cold and wet, the mist in the air flashing colors of light reminiscent of her scales. While she was in no real danger from the cold, the chill had brought on the instinct to hibernate, and she was quite sluggish. She pumped her wings vigorously to stoke the fires within, and when she was properly warmed, she took wing to search for food. She knew she must eat, for today would be momentous….. Her new beginning was somewhere near, closing the door on one adventure but opening infinite other doors for vast lifetimes of new adventures.

She found food, surprisingly enough, already penned and ready for the feast. The meerkats didn’t stand a chance against her voracious appetite, and the keepers at the Denver Zoo scratched their heads, puzzled by the sudden and inexplicable disappearance of the little beasts…

Sated, she again took to the skies. Her heart tugged at her, urging her on to her new home. The clouds were heavy with rain, threatening to break at any moment. She was so close, and yet with so many strange two-leg structures, some larger than anything she had ever imagined, and some not so large at all, she knew she would have to fly below the clouds; she could not seek the warmth of the sun in the heavens. She would have to keep moving to stay warm, and so she flew, starting small, but in ever-increasing spirals, searching, seeking…..

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

She was out on the southeastern fringe of the city when it hit hear, causing her to falter in mid-flight. “Here! Home!” Without any hesitation, she tucked her wings and dove for the ground, tears streaming from her eyes by the force of the wind…. Or, perhaps, it was something more…. Perhaps the tears flowed because of the strength of the emotions that drove her…..

As she lit in the grass, they were there. The first to greet her were the three Old Warriors, each resplendent in their colors, majestic beings who had prevailed in their own battles and thus felt a certain kinship for this brave little dragon that had fought so hard to stand before them. Wisdom shone in their eyes, and corded muscles rippled beneath their scales. “Welcome,” they greeted her. “It seems you have found your way home.”

It was then that she saw the rest. Quietly standing in the shadows of the Old Warriors, each anxiously waited to greet her in turn. In all, 34 dragons turned out to welcome her, extending their love to this new, long-awaited sister. Behind the dragons, to her surprise, the entire family was there to greet her! The four griffins danced with delight, awaiting a chance to spread their wings and fly with her. Not to be outdone by the griffins, the hippogriff joined in the celebration, puffing his feathers, beating his wings, and rearing up in reverence to this uniquely beautiful dragon. The Spirit Wolf simply smiled, nodded and winked, as if nothing more need be said; the other six wolves gathered in a circle and held council before the soft glow of their fire. Sharing a kindred spirit with the wolves, a trio of dragons held council of their own, each in turn seeking to divine more of their new sister. A cat and a kitten purred quietly in welcome, each much more interested in her than they ever would care to admit. Trying to stay one step ahead of the felines, the little mouse wizard conjured up blazing fireworks in her honor. And in the light cast by the fireworks, off to one side and doing his best to avoid being swept into the middle of it all, the grumpy old gargoyle waved a wing in salute.

But what caused her heart to skip a beat, what caused joy to spring to her eyes, were the two-legs…. Three of them, whom, with a great show of respect and honor, simply awaited their turn. A male, a female, and an adolescent girl, eyes sparkling with excitement, with happiness, with love….. And in a wide circle around the two-legs were the others – three and a half horses, two huge dogs with tongues lolling out the sides of their mouths, three more cats (each doing their best to look completely disinterested), two Harleys, and a Spyder.

Overcome by the welcome, by the love of these divine creatures who, until this moment, had never laid eyes on her, she allowed the tears to flow…. In truth, she could not have stopped them even if she tried…. As her tears ran down her scales, the brilliant flashes of purple and blue again streaked out from her, stunning to behold.

It was true that she was unique, one of a kind, with no others like her…. But it was even more true that this majestic Labradorite Lap Dragon was not alone. She was home, with new beginnings.
