i just got a shipment today of peacock family of dragons i got on ebay. the original mother, male, young, and 2 hatchlings. some signs of repair are nopticable but the male is very nice(my poor male was starting to look like a train wreck)everyone else seems in good order to but i’m curious about my Mother dragon if she may be a really old one (or god forbid a fake) she has her felt, and the paint seems solid, slightly differnt shading (from my original mother)but thats up to painter involved but she has more detailing in her scales almost like feathering. I mostly see this on her large scales near the top of her back running down into the tail, but also on her large neck scales. her tail detailing seems differnt also, she feels the right weight. alot of her gold seems to have been almost completly rubbed off, but then again my guys have had thier gold retouched so many times ( i know i handle them too much i can’t help it) it’s just that in some places she seems like she has more detail but some of her seems a bit more rough anyone else seen mothers with detailing a bit differnt in the older ones perhaps?
thanks for your time
February 20, 2007 at 11:28 pm #542159A picture would really help. Have you got a digital camera you can snap her with?
February 21, 2007 at 12:05 am #542160I notice that in alot of my sculpts. I have 4 rising spectral dragons and they are all a little different. To the untrained eye they all look the same, but when you put them all together you can see very subtle differences in them. Yextures and detailing. I’m sure that Windstone molds go through wear and tear like any other. Once one is cast a hundred times the details wear more and more until they need to be replaced with a new mold. Thugh it is extreamly hard to notice nless you have one from a fresh mold and one from a old one.
Thats what I’m assuming anyway.
Got a busted Windstone?

February 21, 2007 at 8:44 am #542162btw i did look at an auction for a green mother on ebay, and she had alot of the differnces i noticed in my peacock gal. I’m thinking she may just be really early production maybe i should ask melody but i figured any of you guys with an older green or brown may notice this as well.
February 21, 2007 at 10:21 am #542163The older mothers were like that. There is actually a picture in one of the older threads with one like that on there. When they were first cast, they were like that. If you want to make sure, check the date on her butt. The first dragons came out around ’84. If her date is around then, its probably from the first molds.
February 21, 2007 at 12:40 pm #542164actually if what I heard is correct the DATE of 85 or what ever year is the date they where first cast in that sculpture. and EVERY susequent sculpture has the same date because it’s the date the mold first got used not the date of the actual casting. I’m glad you mentioned that here I have always wondered it it was true so now I can go ask Melody. You are correct every Mother Dragon should have Pena(r)1985 on her butt. No matter what year she was painted they should all say the same thing. If it is not there or the year is different you should investigate more

I just looked at my mom and she is an 85. There was more than one sculpt, or at least more than one version, cuz there was a rougher one out there.
February 21, 2007 at 3:11 pm #542166My female says ’85 too. I assume that’s the final sculpt…
February 23, 2007 at 8:38 pm #542167tue or wed i’m going to try and figure webshots out so i can show you the mother dragon. i touched up her gold, it was almost all gone. she looks alot happier now. i got a lil ruby fledgie and he is sooooo much darker than the OW i got from windstone i adore him. does that mean he is an older one? also got #5 mother, and male empe on ebay. couldn’t afford to get my layaways paid off in full so i got them for a early birthday gift formyself since no one close to me will bother. The ruby guys if i could find them all that dark i’d go nuts. time for work take care
