A male vent is more raised than the female. And usualy they say only a male canary will sing, but from my personal experience one of my female (that had already laid eggs) started singing almost as good as my male.
Really? How cool! We had a Red Factor (Phoenix) that was sold to us as a male, but never sang a note, so we figured it was a female. (S)he was beautiful, though. (S)he passed away recently. 🙁
