Hoping that someone can clear this up for me . I have what I thought was an emerald scratcher mint in his box . I decided to sort through my collection as it looks like I might have to sell some . When I compared him to the emerald OW I have I noticed that he is a different colour . The scratcher is a darker richer colour & looks like the jade coiled that I have rather than the emerald coiled . I always thought the jade scratchers were lighter as they seem to photograph that way however when I took a couple of pictures on my camera phone he does look jade . Does this sound right ? I hope someone out there who has a jade scratcher can tell me .

The Coiled in my siggie is Jade, btw. Does it look like that?
November 7, 2008 at 10:31 pm #739183Yup it sure does . I’ve tracked down a comparison picture of an emerald & a jade scracher that pegasil posted back in July & the scratcher I have has the same gold highlights that the jade scratcher has so it looks like I’ve got a mint jade scratcher in its box that I paid £50 for 😀 .

November 8, 2008 at 12:17 am #739187I can’t believe that he’s been sitting in his box for 6 months & I didn’t realise that he was jade when I first got him 😳 . I only realised when I compared him with the emerald OW . He was from the same seller that I got my old style white grand unicorn from – again mint & in the original box .

I know what you mean! I’d be willing to paint a couple keepers just to get ahold of one!
November 8, 2008 at 7:08 am #739190I have a jade scratcher too (and a jade coiled male like Emerald’s sig). Someone told me this trick or rule of thumb (for the most part) and Ive found it to be true for my cases of ‘whats this color?’ I think for the most part, that the paint on the bottom, around the felt, of the rare jade statues are painted black. Not so with the Emeralds. At least thats the case with mine and a number of other collectors Ive conferred with about this very topic in color variations of jade or emerald.
Good catch and lucky! Grats!

Ack, you got that one?! Was that by chance the UK seller that posted here on the boards with all that old stock in storage? Man was I drooling over that fella. Sadly, I didn’t get any reponse on the boards, in PMs or in e-mail, had to track them down via their UK eBay address to message them and by then, it was already gone!
Ah well, it was nice dreaming about it at least. Pictures please? Yes, I love to torment myself. 😎

P.S. Considering how many stateside Windstones you UK folks have to let go by because of shipping costs, it’s about time you folks got some deals your way. OLD STYLE GRAND UNI ……. [twitch, twitch]
