Hi all,
I have been trying to find a now retired Papo mammoth toy. They are extinct in US stores but I found ONE store in the UK that still has them in stock. When I purchased two, the store emailed back saying that shipping to the US would be $350.00!!! Are they shipping it in a block of lead?? Overnighting it!?? I have bought plane tickets that were cheaper! These two toys have a combined weight of less than 2 lbs, and put in a box it probably wouldn’t be anymore than 3.5 lbs. I am unfamiliar with the process of shipping internationally from the UK, but could someone find out for me what it would REALLY cost to ship a 3.5 lb box from there to the US? If it isn’t two much, I am wondering if one of our UK members could purchase these two toys for me and ship them to the US themselves. I would of course repay you for the purchase and shipping costs.January 16, 2011 at 10:08 pm #835869gosh…I just bought myself the Papo TRex from our local hobby lobby….I’m fairly certain they had a mammoth, as well as a few other dinos….is it a particular mammoth you’re looking for, does papo make more than one?
Here’s a pic of the TRex I bought, from my journal a few days ago. He hangs out on my desk.

Papo retired him in favor of a much uglier and much less dynamic mammoth. No clue why.
January 16, 2011 at 10:23 pm #835872I bought a 2 LB. doll from a website in the UK. It only cost around $12 to ship it and it came in a HUGE box. $350 sounds incredibly wrong! 😮
January 16, 2011 at 10:26 pm #835873ah, I’ll keep an eye out!
Have you seen this fellow anywhere in the states? I’m wanting him terribly to go with my rex
January 16, 2011 at 10:29 pm #835874January 16, 2011 at 10:31 pm #835875they only had one in stock…i think the above post is him, so i kinda slapped it up there quick as i could. 😀
January 16, 2011 at 10:34 pm #835876The shipping, it has to be wrong. I just paid $60 to have an extremely large box (containing apx 20 toys) shipped to me from Australia.
Purplecat: There is one here http://cgi.ebay.com/PAPO-P55003-Velociraptor-Dinosaur-16cm-Moveable-Jaw-NEW-/110534597930 but its pretty expensive. If you want to buy it, be sure to ask the seller first to make sure its the old version.
You can also do a google image search for “papo velociraptor”. There are a lot of places still selling him that are using the photo of the old version, so they might actually still have the old one (again, ask first!).Also, the place on amazon is selling the new version. They haven’t switched the stock photo yet.
January 16, 2011 at 11:07 pm #835877I wish on the velociraptor they’d kept the slit pupils…..I wouldnt mind the newer color quite so much if they’d kept the same eye design. Round pupils just look wrong on him. The more stripey brown design looks more like natural camoflauge as well. I really love the sculpting quality of the papo dinos…..maybe I’ll nab a newer color version cheap of the velociraptor and repaint him….
sorry the mammoth i found wasnt much help. 🙁 Would have been nice if it were the older version.
January 17, 2011 at 7:32 am #835878Well, I asked them to double check the shipping, and the store canceled my order saying they don’t ship to the US anyway. The person who emailed me about it scolded me for not having read the terms and conditions, which do state that they no longer ship to the US (then why did you send me a shipping quote for the US in the first place?)
So, does anyone living in the UK want to help me get my mammoth? 😳
