I was thinking of selling my Rainbow PYO and I can’t decide. My boyfriend thinks I should keep it because it’s my first and as he says “your flesh and… fingers went into it..”.. What do you guys think?
Oh here’s a picture of it all finished and sealed.
June 8, 2007 at 4:35 am #491392June 8, 2007 at 4:36 am #586936I sold my first PYO. Of course, Nirvana was very generous.
June 8, 2007 at 4:39 am #586937But what if I put it up on ebay and it only goes for $40 … I won’t have made anything off it and I will have lost my first peice… but I really want one of those RG SK..
June 8, 2007 at 4:40 am #586938ZOMG….It’s an evil Carebear!!!
And I don’t know what you’re talking about GB…..It was like….Ooooo! Shiny!!! Pliny…….Ok, that was really bad….ROFL
June 8, 2007 at 4:42 am #586939😆 You were still generous.

The only options there are to put a reserve on it – though that isn’t common with PYOs – are start it at more than $40.
June 8, 2007 at 4:48 am #586940I kept my first… my purple ki-rin boy 😀 But of course, I also designed him FOR me so why wouldn’t I keep him? He’s staring at me right now xD
I haven’t sold any PYO because I feel my skill isn’t something worth trying to sell… That and I only painted 3, one for me, one for a friend, and one for the swap (and a 4th never finished).
You could, like GB said, put a reserve on the auction if you list it on ebay. Or offer it up in the flea market? That way you don’t have to sell if you don’t feel you get a good enough offer?
June 8, 2007 at 5:57 am #586941Yeah, can’t hurt to try it in the flea market first, and see how much people are willing to offer. That’s what decided me on keeping my gothicorn, at least for a while. I got a couple of offers, but none of them were high enough for me to want to part with her, I like her so much!
June 8, 2007 at 6:32 am #586942Oohhh…my favorite feature is the wings and how the rainbow colors blend so well next to eachother!
Beautiful!June 8, 2007 at 7:53 am #586943I still have my first (kinda not well done) pyo. I think I would regret it if I ever sold it or changed it. I kinda like seeing how I have progressed.
June 8, 2007 at 8:46 am #586944I sold my 1st and only PYO, only got $30 for it too. But I needed the money, and though I lost money on it, it was a learning experience, better luck next time. Besides, though i can’t copy it, I can make a similar one later- and if my work gets out there however cheap and people like it once they see it, maybe my luck will improve- sort of expensive advertising!

You’d actually part with it? 😯 That gothicorn is awesome; if it were me, I couldn’t let her go!
I still have my first PYO, and the thought of selling it never occured to me. I concur: offer it in the flea market first.

I’m a mercenary sort. Pay me enough and I’d sell pretty much anything. Except the Violet Flame Fledge. *grins* Even then you could probably pay me enough, but it’d be way more than she’s worth! *grins* After all, I can always solace myself in my loss by using the money to buy something else neat!
June 8, 2007 at 1:56 pm #586947I still have my first PYO… ugly blue and white thing. I thought I was all cool when I painted it. HAhah! But Imma keep him, to remind myself of where I came from!

My art: featherdust.comJune 8, 2007 at 3:45 pm #586948I to am keeping my first pyo…even though Ski BEEEEEEGGGGED…oh wait..i mean “petitioned” that i sell it to her.
and after a lot of thought…I am deciding to keep my first griffin too.
But if you have in mind to save up for something, then maybe this would be a good start. my advice would be to buy another pyo. keep this guy for a while and just think on it, eventualy you will get a strong feeling to eather sell or keep him. If you choose to keep him, then you will have another pyo to try to paint and sell…
and if you choose to sell him..well you still would have a fresh pyo to paint and sell 😀 -
