Sorry if this is the wrong area.
I’m selling some of my collection, and I’m having some trouble with the initial pricing. The one I’m have the most concern with is my Emerald Peacock Male Dragon… I know there was a limited amount made, and he’s drop-dead gorgeous, but I bought him spontaneously and he’s one of the individuals chosen for re-sale.
Can anyone help me out?
March 9, 2012 at 10:18 pm #876337Hello,
I moved this thread to general discussions for you. 🙂 You’re more than welcome to post your dragons in the flea market when you’re ready to sell though!
Lots of people will be able to help you with pricing I’m sure. 🙂
Thanks!

So should I just wait it out here or post him on the Flea Market??
March 9, 2012 at 10:24 pm #876340… because I AM ready to sell him, I just don’t know what to ask for him. I thought I had it in the right place since I’d specified which dragon it was 🙁
March 9, 2012 at 10:34 pm #876341If you’re ready to post him for sale AND you want to post him for sale on the forum, your best bet would probably be to post a “For sale: emerald peacock male dragon” in the flea market (I can move this thread and retitle it for you if that’s what you would like to do). The flea market rules and guidelines are available here: http://windstoneeditions.com/forum/flea-market-rules-guidelines
If you want advice on what to price him at on ebay, please keep the discussion in the general discussion thread. (I assumed you were looking to sell him on ebay due to the post title, and not on the forum).
Retail for the Emerald Peacock dragons is $132. They are out of stock right now, but they are a regular production item and will be restocked (and are available from retailers). If yours is in mint condition with box and tag, pricing him close to retail will probably get you the most interest, but there are no rules around pricing, so you can do that however you want. 🙂
I hope this answered your question!
March 9, 2012 at 10:45 pm #876342I would also add that while no males have sold on ebay in the last 90 days, other sculpts in the color scheme are sticking pretty close to retail.
If you do try ebay, my personal .02 worth is you’re better off starting with a low opening bid to lure buyers in, setting a reserve of perhaps 3/4 of your wished for price if you’re concerned that it won’t go high enough (high reserves can also scare off buyers). Unless it’s an in demand piece, I’ve seen pieces languish on ebay week after week with starting prices that are just way too high–even if they’re exactly what the sculpt may be worth–while the same sculpt listed with a lower starting bid sells first.
Even with one of a kinds like the grab bags, I’ve watched those sit and be relisted several times, often dropping their price, because they started out too high.
Just one opinion though. Priced right as an auction (or priced decently as a Buy It Now), most Windstones seem to sell just fine.

March 10, 2012 at 5:14 pm #876385As a little note also, I’d recommend listing your dragon in the Flea Market for the price you’re hoping to get, before taking him to ebay.
Ebay reaches a wider audience than the Flea Market forum, but Windstone is kind enough not to take 12-15% of your final sale fee when all is said and done, as ebay does. 😉
