I dont have any good input for how it would work, but I will donate when I can, whether it be peices or small amounts of money. As for folks not wanting a peice because of smell, I dont think the folks who get these peices would be too picky like that. Its the thought and all… 🙂

Awesome ideas, Nam! 😀 I doubt I’d be able to contribute much by way of time (too much school… *shudder shudder*) but I’m more than sure I could nudge in some funds from time to time.

Well, I’d love to help out with organizing if my being over here in Europe doesn’t get in the way!

Concerning a pool of pieces that have ‘fallen out of love’ rather than having someone have to keep them all at their place (which could get a rough due to space constraints, or just if something were to happen). Perhaps the person who were to keep track of this could keep a list of pieces that are ‘donated’ to the pool. The person keeping track of everything would then contact the holder of an item on the list when it is needed. This would work whether the person were here in the states or elsewhere. Money wise, that I’m not sure how best to have that work if it were an item on not the pool. Perhaps like it was just done (everyone participating send X amount to whomever was in charge) as needed prior to giving a gift.

I wouldn’t mind doing this (unless someone else really wanted to jump on this), but I honestly couldn’t keep track of something like this until closer to the end of October (have a few things on my plate that will be done by then).

I love this idea. I just think that first we would need someone to keep track of items and who has them. And I think that if/when the times comes and we see someone down then the persons in charge would look at the list to see if that item is already in the pool, if not then they would keep a eye out for that peice and then let everyone know how much it will cost to get that peice for that person. I wouldn’t mind giving money or donating a peice (if that peice didn’t cost to much) if I had one.
Maybe we could buy peices in the donating pool from the owner so they aren’t out any money.

Im 100% up for donating some appropriate money towards getting anyone a Windstone warm fuzzy. Sionce I work from home most of the time, I would tend to say I have more time and could likely help organize or keep lists (Ive been keeping the Wish List thread in Flea Market as up to date as possible and whenever Im out, it’s in my pocket book so should I run across Windstones, I can see if there is a coveted piece on the list and in front of me).

Donations for the most part are an open offer from me. Time can get tricky starting after Christmas. That will be the time that the Winter Grand Prix (FL horse show season) starts. Since I cant compete anymore, I go and cheer on my friends who I competed with/against for years. And coming upon an Olympic year, Im sure to run into even more friends this year at the shows (which go from the end of December through end of March; everyday; every week… but I tend to focus on the Grand Prix’s which are just 2 days a week… unless someone requests I be there for another event). I take photos of them during competition, format them, print out the hundreds of 4x6s and select the best for 5×7’s for each of said friends (which is considerable in this circle). They loved it last year and this year Im expecting it will be extra intense since friends have told their friends that I dont know, and Ive already been approached via email that “theyll be in Ocala for the winter season and hope I can photo them during their Grand Prix”. Gee, if I charged I could make a killing but I cant- not for friends. Thankfully being the photog nut I am, Im stocked up on photo paper and printer toner.

Anyway, tangent. Monetary donations- anytime, just call on me (I dont have any other Windstones to give; you guys bought out what I sold with exception of a few pieces still in production– guess I could dontate one of those). You can throw me in the mix as someone to keep track of lists (Im MONKish like that so I could be good; I like lists) but during the winter, more as a back up than a primary. For me, bottomline is- just ask me anything whenever you need it and I’ll likley jump on that or at least respond to you as to whats up with me. I LOVE giving so this idea is right up my alley. I dont want anyone to be down on their luck but life is inevitable. If I can even be a small part of something that would make someone feel even a fraction of how the Griffin made me feel, Im blindly jumping in with both feet saying “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”

OH! And idea about Windstones smelling like cigarette smoke. When I got my eBay Flion that Nicole bought for me, it came from smokers. To solve this problem (I was amazed how much he smelled), I put him on the dresser next to a burning stick of incense (Nag Champa is awesome for this). That smoke wafted onto the Flion and afterwards, he immediately shed his ciggie smell and smells of sweet incense. If the person HAD to have their Windstone smell because it was simply a donation pool Windstone, you can remedy the cigs smell this way and the incense will eventually either wear off or become part of a smell the new owner will adjust to. Just a thought.

This is a great idea!! I’d love to help out with money or anything. Unfortunately I’m horribly unorganized so I don’t think having me keep the list is a good idea (just ask my boyfriend). But I’ll jump in to help any other way I can.

Okay guys! Now that PT’s griffin is no longer a secret or surprise, let me tell you what I have though of while we were doing this.

This is not the first or last time we will get a gift to someone here, I bet! I’d like to suggest some sort of a gift pool that is three tiered. It needn’t be anything expensive or big. A curlie, or a hatchie, or even one of Maya’s wonderful pieces…

          1. Where we get together and get a little gift for someone that is down on their luck, going though bad times, etc. I.E. getting DM’s gold curlie for him. This is sort of like sending flowers and a card, only this is something they can enjoy for a lifetime!

          2. Where we get together and give to someone that is an outstanding member of the community- someone we have grown to love and has done generous things for us (etc).

          3. A giving pool of unwanted Windstones. Okay, so there are rarely unwanted pieces, but sometimes there is a pieces you’ve ‘fallen out of love’ with, or perhaps you did a PYO you don’t want to keep, or perhaps your cat knocked your hatching dragon over and he has a tiny chip and you only keep mint pieces? If you don’t want to eBay it and don’t want to keep it, I suggest a sort of giving pool. All of us come from different financial backgrounds, and for some collecting even small pieces is hard due to finances. Not that anyone should be responsible for one’s finances but oneself, but I was thinking, wouldn’t it be neat if any unwanted pieces were somehow connected with the folks that would love them but couldn’t afford them? I’m not sure about the best way to go about this- that’s why I’m posting here- for input!!

So, what do you guys think? Am I totally nuts??

One last thing I should mention is that all though I love to help people out and give, my life has gotten pretty unstable with my move coming up (the unstable part is we don’t know when it will happen, eek!). I had a hard time keeping up with everything for PT’s gift and I regret that I don’t think I could organize anything further at this moment. So we’d need one or two people with a lot of time on their hands and a good giving heart to head these sorts of plans.

          Thoughts? Rotten tomatos?

I think this is a great idea…. Unfortunatly I was not able to be in on the Griffin for PT….but I know that she will give him a good home.
From now on tho I would love to be a prt of this whole thing and I can forsure contribute in one way or another, i just don’t think that I would be able to take the set up on, at least not right now… 😆

I’m all for helping out others when I can. Until the winter storms hit I’m not sure how much I can do

              #604191

I’m always happy to help. Unfortunatly, I’m an unorgainised mess. 😉 So, if you need anything else from me, a donated item, a baddly painted PYO, a small amount of money, etc. I’ll be happy to help. 😆

That’s computer work. I could do that. And of course I can donate toward pieces – though there’ll never be a piece that I “fall out of love” with.

I doubt I will EVER fall out of love with mine either

This is a wonderful idea. I missed out on PT’s as well, but I would love to donate some funds to the pool 🙂
My collection is very small right now and I could not part with them 😛
