OK, Frodo and Silo are having a baby! I need help with a name. Don’t know boy or girl yet.
Since our prefix is Phoenix’s we’d like the names to follow fire themes. I also believe names follow the personality of an animal. So if you name a horse Satan… You’re in trouble! 😀
Welsh also need to have at least two word names…So the baby will either be buckskin or bay and will most likely have four white feet and a blaze.
What are your ideas???March 12, 2009 at 2:01 am #497782March 12, 2009 at 2:07 am #755588Morningstar? 😀

SunblazeOr you can go with the more mundane “Blaze.”
Dunno if I’m any good at naming horses.

March 12, 2009 at 3:42 am #755591Pyro, and whats wrong with Satan for a horses name? That was the black stallions name.
March 12, 2009 at 5:10 am #755592lol a horse at our therapudic riding center was named Diablo but he was the sweetest thing! Always good with the children. I have no idea why they named him that.
As for ur new pony I always wanted to name a horse A Fire Inside (for the show name) and call them AFI for short. I think its a bands name but it has such a deep meaning and has fire in the name.
Every horse we ever had came with a name cept one that was born on our farm. The Native Americans would name their baby after the first thing they saw when it was born. So when our mare went into labor I looked up into the sky and saw the constellation Orion. I decided to name him Star of Orion. Once we got all the birth off we saw he had a perfect star on his forehead 😀
March 12, 2009 at 6:24 am #755593Naming him after a star is a neat idea.
I love mythological names. Something like Vulcan’s Fire or – having been sired by Frodo – Rohan’s Fire or somesuch from Middle Earth might fit. Please let us know what you decide on – naming critters is so much fun!March 12, 2009 at 3:14 pm #755594How about something with Naro or Baras or Naur? Those are the Tolkien elvish words for fire/fiery. Quenya and Sindarin language, respecively.

Satan was the Black Stallion’s Son. Although the Black’s Arabic name did mean Satan…I can’t remember what it was though…help please so it doesn’t drive me crazy.

Shetan, if memory serves, though there may have been ‘funny’ things over the vowels. 😉
March 12, 2009 at 4:52 pm #755597Yup, that’s it. Thanks, and there were funny things over the vowels, but my keyboard won’t do do them. 😀

Sun Dragon Koi #3March 12, 2009 at 6:10 pm #755598In Greek mythology Hephaestus was the god of fire and the forge; in Roman myth his equivalent is Vulcan. Since your prefix is Phoenix’s and a phoenix is a mythogical creature, you could continue that line of thinking by using mythological names. You don’t have to stick with Greek or Roman myth – use “fire” names from any mythos. I think it would be a clever play on words if the foal is male to name him Hephaestus and call him “Heff” for short, especially if he goes on to stand at stud. 😀
