February 14, 2008 at 1:35 am #665666I hope the location remains secret, but there was one in Devon that was kept secret by the locals for several years (he was around 11 if I remember correctly) and was discovered and decapitated by poachers. Western NY has some white, white-tail deer. Somewhere in the southwestern area of the state. One of my co-workers at a former job used to see them.
February 14, 2008 at 2:13 am #665667could it be possible he’s just an albino??
My most wanted list: carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties
February 14, 2008 at 2:23 am #665668No, they are white deer. The legendary white stags,

Quote:White deer are often mistakenly thought to be albinos, but their unusual condition is caused by leucism, a rare genetic pattern that causes a reduction in the pigment in the animal’s hair and skin. Unlike albinos, which have characteristically red eyes, deer with leucism have normal colouring in their eyes.

I just hope the hunters don’t catch sight of them. It would be nice if they were just left alone.
February 14, 2008 at 7:01 am #665669Nice animal. Too bad there’s not a picture of him glowing. 😆

😆 Maybe it glows in the dark.
February 14, 2008 at 1:59 pm #665671What a beautiful creature! I sure do hope it lives a very long life, and nobody kills it. Creatures like that have got to be magical in their own way.
How about the jerk who posted a comment that if he saw this stag, he would shoot it and have a roast. What an @$$hole! 👿I had a book of indian stories when I was a kid, and there was one story about a white stag. It was never to be killed, and if someone did… they would be cursed for the rest of their lives.

I think I read the same story, this makes me want to go look it up….I’m 1/8th Cherokee, and love that sort of thing. 😀
February 14, 2008 at 2:49 pm #665673I can’t remember the name of the book, and don’t think I have it anymore. It was one of the books my fifth grade teacher was giving away at the end of the school year. It had lots of short indian stories in it, but the legend of the white stag was my favorite.
