I remember doing mine, man was it maddening…took months. Was so relieved when it was done and turned in, even happier when it got an A-.
I know how you are feeling, it is such a huge load off, I bet you didn’t even realize how much it was weighing on you until now.
It’s kinda like pregnancy…every new ache and pain just adds in, until the baby is born, you don’t realize how much discomfort and pain you were in until it is all just gone! Course the euphoria of finally getting to see your baby has noothing to do with it at all….nope…not a thing! LOL!
Anyway, glad your paper baby was birthed and received favorably, congrats on completing it, and getting asked to be in a contest, that should be really cool.

Yes, Kyrin. That’s it. Accept that the thesis is the culminating project in a graduate degree program and it’s not graded. It’s more complicated than that. It has to meet graduate standards. So, it has to be graduate A-level material in order for me to graduate. And I have to defend it in an oral exam, which is what I did yesterday.
The nicest thing that happened in my defense was that one of the teachers on my committee said that he would like to keep a copy of it so when someone else comes in and asks him to be on their thesis committee he can show it to them and tell them that theirs has to be up to “this standard” (meaning my paper). That was so flattering! And here I was all worried they were going to hate it and I’d have to rewrite big sections and not graduate this semester after investing in the gown and hood and tassel, not to mention the dated diploma frame. *whew*
Sorry, I keep going on. My life has revolved around this paper for the last year so it’s hard not to talk about its success for a little while yet. I’ll move on to other things soon. I promise. 🙂
No worries, Emerald, this is a huge accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself. If you can’t talk about it to your friends who can you talk to about it? Are you kidding – if I had done a thesis and one of the professor was going to use it as the gold standard I would take an ad out in the newspaper!
It’s just a huge relief, really! I just have to make sure I get all (there’s only like 10) the typos corrected and get it submitted to the formatting reviewer who will format it correctly for publishing. Then I have to have four copies printed on 100% cotton paper and bring them to the School of Graduate Studies on campus for binding by May 11th.
When it’s all done and beautiful, I’ll try to put it somewhere on the internet so I can post a link to it. Someone here said they were interested in reading it, so I’ll see if I can make that happen. I’m not sure how to put a book up though, so it may be a while. I don’t know if I have the ability to format it as a pdf, but that would probably be how I’d have to do it. I’ll research it and let you know.
Well, I couldn’t stand it anymore, so to celebrate my thesis being done and passing (graduating) I ordered myself a Rainbow Mother Dragon! I saw it on Shop Headlines’s web site, so I placed an order. I hope they still have one available. 🙂
