From what I’ve read, mealworms shouldn’t be used as a main diet staple…which was kinda a bummer since they are cheaper than crickets.
I am just going to have to get her to convert to something less costly and just give her crickets and mealworms as occassional treats.
We’ll get it figured out, need to talk to a buddy of mine and find out if he can get me the poultry mash in smaller quantities.

You can feed it wild bird seeds. My outdoor starlings are constantly at my bird feaders raiding them. πSeed alone does not a diet make! π They need a varied diet in order to keep them in good health.
However Kyrin shouldn’t need to continue with just insects (and indeed shouldn’t as it can lead to health problems). Good news for her, they’re pricey!
This page is one I’ve found to be really informative when I was raising Chi, a house sparrow with bum feet…

I didn’t mean for her to feed just seeds alone. But also some vegetables like kale, brocoli, grated carrots…also a small portion of fruits since those are more like treats. I just meant as a combining source with the rest. πApril 8, 2008 at 8:14 pm #6879082Huberts wrote:I can send it to you Kyrin. π
Would you? I don’t need a lot, maybe a couple cups, max. Right now she is fussing at me cause she ate all her crickets and wants more. But I don’t want to spoil her, anymore than she already is, so I will be moving her to crumble food this week.
Now, next task, to figure out how to rig the lottery!

There have been weirder things. LOL!
Thanks, she’s being pretty active and talkative these days. I think she is going to be a good pet, once we get her to settle.
