My last night work my partner was complaining his arm hurt. He had this little bump on his arm that looked like a bug bite but he kept insisting it wasn’t. Well half way through the shift his arm swelled up real big and I told him either let me stick him with a needle to pop it or go to the er and have it looked at. He wouldn’t let me stick him so he went to the er. They gave him some antibiotics to take and we went back to our station. This morning I have a text message on my phone from him saying “guess where I am”. So turns out he has mrsa in his arm and they have him in the hospital on iv antibiotics. He says he is only going to be in the hospital for one night but I don’t see how they will get him fixed up that fast. I told him he is falling apart and I’m going to trade him in for a new paramedic.

Yeah I guess its a good thing I didn’t poke him with a needle. I really don’t need to bring that home to Alyssa or Danny. I want to go visit him in the hospital but I’m not sure if I should.

            What is MRSA?

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterium responsible for difficult-to-treat infections in humans.

Glad it sounds like he will be OK though

Good thing he went the the Dr.
I had the MRSA in my ear. It really hurt, but cleared up quickly with cortisone instead of antibiotics.
He’ll be back in no time!

I’m glad he went in before it got any worse and they figured out what it was. That stuff is scary! 😯

I wanted to poke him with a needle. Back when I was pregnant and got dehydrated at work he started an iv on me before he shipped me off in another medic to the hospital. I told him it was my turn to get him but he wouldn’t let me do it. 🙄

I’ve had two episodes with MRSA, never again if there is any way I can prevent it. One was me, the other was my daughter, and according to information they let slip when I got her to the hospital, she was dangerously ill. I knew she was sick, and her temp was too high, but it scared me to hear them talking about her shutting down, shock, etc.

Anyway, I hope your partner recovers quickly.

Oh noes, I hope he recovers quickly. Good thing he was stubborn and wouldn’t let you stick him with the needle.
