October 21, 2007 at 4:24 pm #627719I gave strawberry tops to my horse this morning, and he was like, no thanks 🙄 where’s my apple?
October 21, 2007 at 5:01 pm #627720Bosky, try watermelon! My ponies love it! It’s fun to watch them slurp it all up.
I’ve tried strawberries too, but they won’t eat them. Granny smith apples are cool too cause they foam at the mouth 😆October 21, 2007 at 9:31 pm #627721wheee better pics of my fellow ( who was being a complete ass today)
October 21, 2007 at 10:57 pm #627722Aww pretty horsie. Is he already starting to get his winter coat? He looks kinda fuzzy/fluffy in the pictures. *Rubs the horsie on his star*

October 22, 2007 at 12:08 am #627724He looks like a sweetheart! He’s gonna look great with some weight on him and some TLC. He’s still young so he’ll bounce back quickly.

Most pits get a bum rap, the original Staffordshire breed was bred for friendliness and companionship. But when folks bred in the bulldog and started breeding for fierceness, it really put some bad traits into the pit bull terrier. Though most of the ones I have met to date have been total love dog, sweeties.
The mean ones for me have been chows, rotts and aussies. The aussies being unpredictable as all get out and hard to read. At least the rott and chows made it very clear they intended to eat you if you came neat them or their human. When I was a vet tech I actually had an easier time handling the dogs if I had the owner hand me their leash and then leave the room. Mostly our policy was any dog that showed any signs of hostility got muzzled, period.
If the owner didn’t like, they could walk out.
Anyway, as to the horse…I want him! You’re lucky you got him. So sad to hear his condition when he was rescued. My mare Cricket was a good 300 lbs underweight when I got her. The folks who were caring for her after the owner stopped paying board didn’t know much about horses, and so weren’t feeding her enough. But since the previous owner hadn’t been feeding her properly either, they probably thought she was supposed to be that thin. Poor girl.
I am looking forward to next spring, when I can get the fencing up that I need and get the stable doors installed and more or less get this place ready for a new horse or two.
