I suppose I could say that I’m lucky to have gone so long without getting a Windstone damaged during shipping. It happened for the first time today. Seller did a sh***y packing job despite my request that it be double boxed. The dragon(emerald oriental) was shoved into a shoe box with some foam and that was it. The result is his front leg broke off, with little chips everywhere.

I’m a bit more upset about this because orientals are some of my favorite pieces. Is anyone on the forums who repairs dragons willing to give this guy a shot?
April 9, 2011 at 7:35 pm #842156That’s AWFUL!!! It’s always terrible when Windstones get damaged due to lousy, non-listening-to-wisdom shippers, but I’m right there with you when you say it’s the saddest when it happens to the Oriental dragons. X(
I hope you’re able to be reimbursed for the damage. The seller had better–you requested double boxing. I can’t believe they sent it in just a shoebox. Those things are made out of frikkn’ CARDSTOCK.
I’m sure someone can repair him for you. I would give it a try for you since I love the Oriental dragons so much, but that one might be a tiny bit over my head.
I’m so, so sorry!
April 9, 2011 at 9:12 pm #842175I’m going to file wherever I can to try to get some of the money back. We’ll see. It’s a combination of fault from the seller not packing it properly and usps treating the box less than gently.
April 9, 2011 at 9:30 pm #842177Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwe…. that sucks Wampus. That’s a common break on Orientals. I am fixing one currently with the same damage.
A freaking SHOE BOX? Are you kidding me!? x.x

April 10, 2011 at 6:11 am #842231Ugh.. that sucks so much Wampus, I hate seeing any Windstone broken but it only makes it worse knowing that it was something that could have easily been prevented ><
I hope you find someone to fix it for you! I'm just learning to fix minor repairs so I can't help you there

You can’t pack items that are heavy and fragile with just a bit of foam in such a flimsy box. Argh! It’s especially annoying since you asked them to double box it! If it was me, I would be demanding a refund from the seller right about now…
I hope someone can fix him for you. That’s just awful
April 15, 2011 at 4:22 am #842544*facepalm* Who… who would ship something so fragile in a SHOE BOX?? *shakes head* Ugh. I hope you can get him fixed! The orientals are some of my faves too~
April 18, 2011 at 11:30 pm #842837I dont think many people realize that shipping companies literally just toss packages from one place to another.

I hate to agree, but this is quite true. For the most part, I get the impression most of they simply don’t care. I can think of one time when I mailed an item, and the guy literally tossed it on a pile of boxes behind him |( .
But then again, anyone numb enough to send ANY fragile object in a freaking shoe box has a few ‘issues’. It’s to bad. The oriental dragons are rather hard to come by toApril 19, 2011 at 2:36 am #842847has any one contacted you about fixing him yet?
April 19, 2011 at 2:55 am #842849I made a claim for the insurance so I had to surrender him to the post office. So unfortunately no. I will get my money back I guess and I will continue looking for an emerald oriental.

April 22, 2011 at 5:03 am #843130The same thing happened to me when I bought my Emerald Sun a while back. I just couldn’t bear the thought of surrendering him to the post office to be destroyed, so I ended up getting a partial claim. I did the repair myself, and in the end, paid about what I would have paid for him if he’d been non-mint originally.
It worked out pretty well, but knowing he was mint to begin with is still a bummer.
April 22, 2011 at 6:56 am #843138I did a partial claim with usps once, over a white coiled male with a chipped off scale. I got $25 from them after 6 months, and then learned that they had sent my dragon to an auction house in MN by mistake.
