I had ordered a kirin, but the horn was damaged. After sorting is all out with Suzie (sending pictures of the wound, etc.), she sent me a new one and told me to keep the damaged one:
Quote:You’ll have to give the little “horn challenged” Ki-rin a special paint job and a special name.
I fixed the horn, but had to repaint it, as the gold was a total goner. It’s metallic white, though the flash hides it. So here is Piki, the okapi-rin!
There are a few spots that are bugging me still, but all and all, he’s basically finished. Trust me, getting a smooth, straight line on these scales is tough!!!I’m really happy with him, and I will be doing a unicorn with this pattern.
I included 2 links to pictures I used:

July 13, 2007 at 3:39 am #599010the kirin is cute. its interesting to see the horn not gold. it stands out more in white.
so, is the horn in it the original horn or the second horn that susie sent you? i am confused as to why you had to paint it white.

It’s the original horn. She sent me a whole new kirin. I’m glad, because honestly, I’m not sure I would have been able to remove the horn without damaging the head.

August 28, 2007 at 1:29 am #599014Here’s the dragon I did to trade with grayfire artz. This little guy took me the longest time; it took me a while to get the red I wanted.
I tried to take pictures with and without flash, but the colors are coming out a bit weird (or maybe it’s my monitor). Anywho, he’s nice and bright in person! So, here’s the strawberry dragon!
Without the flash:

August 28, 2007 at 3:18 am #599016Cute! The no-flash shot brings out the color very well.
August 28, 2007 at 9:46 pm #599017Talk about a difference between flash and no flash.

Tell me about it! The color is actually somewhere between the two lightings. The whitish/greyish spots are really light yellow…
Another adventure is photographing Windtones! And this one has no interference paint and no metallic paint…
