I am finishing him up right now– well he is finished I am just waiting for the sealer to dry!
I will be listing him on ebay later tonight.

I will post a pic in a little while- he is green with a touch of purple- mane and tail are brown– and I also tried out some gold leaf– I think he came out unique!

I know this first post is a total tease 😉 I promise pics soon!

I love the kirin– I think I will be concentrating my PYO painting to kirins and dragons– I just love them!

ok- heres a couple pics 🙂

    (pics deleted)

He comes with the stones and the little box/display– and yes that is gold and multi color leaf! Boy what a pain! Let me know what you guys think!

It’s neat you’re giving the box and bracelet thing with the sculpt. I love the color of green to the brown mane you use. I’ve been debating making a brown and green KiRin but hasn’t settled on my colors yet. You did awesomely. I’d get better pics for the auction though.

really? those are the pics for the auction! are they too dark?

    #537882

The close-up one is ok. The problem I’ve run into with natural light is one side gets brightly lit and sometimes overlit, while another gets too dark in shadow. While I personally never use flash, what I do do is stay further back from the window and, taking the advice of some forum members, using slightly folded paper plates on the not-as-lit side of the figure to help create more bounce light to fully illuminate the sculpt…and of course have either a light or dark backgrounf and prefferably a solid color. You’ll never photograph a 3D object with perfection and a lot of your detail won’t show in either case, or colors not as true, but I think you can get a better lit ki-rin. Give it a shot because pictures REALLY DO make or break an auction.

I had a hard time seeing what the belly looks like. You will get better bids if the pictures are clearer. I love the bracelet and box idea!
      You are very creative!

awe thanks for the compliment! I got a couple more pictures before my camera died- ugh! I put the listing up and added the new pics– hopefully they will do– the pictures look great on my computer– so i’m not sure why they aren’t looking good to you guys– but I totally believe you and will work on my pics!
      thanks

That’s a pretty kirin, mipa. I’m watching him on E-Bay.

      #537886

yes, I like the green a lot.

      #537887

thanks– I just couldn’t get the pictures to show all the colors right at the same time… the green would look nice but the brown would look dull etc etc
The gold leaf is another hard thing to capture because it tends to glare– I will get some batteries today and work on pics

MIPS!!!!! OMG ! I just saw your auction! MY LORD you have an amazing talent for “words”! I LOVE reading your stories! Ever think about maybe posting your stories about your PYOs up here somewhere??? THEY are SO captivating!!!! I LOVE the Kirin STORY!!!! 😀 😯 😮 😉

      #537890

well thank you soooooo much! I am blushing– and it makes me smile knowing someone loves the story! It adds to the work of completing the piece but I like writing so its not so bad 😉
These scultps just seem to scream out personality. Each pyo is a little different looking but when I paint I sorta imagine what this particular dragon/kirin etc is thinking/doing– I know I must sound like a nut but they seem almost alive– all the praise goes to Melody for her amazing ability to make stone look alive!
Anyway- thanks for the compliments again– sometimes when I am trying to write up the story I feel maybe no one will care about that part and so why am I going to the trouble of writing something– it is nice to know you appreciate the work- thanks again for the encouragment!
