I still do not know how to post pics!
I painted a Kirin and young Dragon one of the times I stopped by.December 16, 2007 at 3:59 am #647371Yep, mine is the one closest the camera with her Mardi Gras scales showing on her back (in first photo). That was the name I gave her too, “Mardi Gras.” I think she is better in person. You cant really see the antiquing effort in the photo and it was my first attempt (Ive gotten better at it!) or the iridescent white she has on her. She isnt flat white; she’s pearly with some very slight blue interference to tie in her eyes which are blue. I had a different color scheme in mind when I ordered or else Id have gotten green or lav eyes. But when she came to me, she screamed, “lets party!” Hence, Mardi Gras was born. But I really enjoyed doing it. Twas fun! Hope Melody liked it!

the cat in your sig looks like my oldest male kitty
December 16, 2007 at 4:10 am #647373#1 (White with yellow and orange and green eyes) was mine. Based off Daffodil colors. There’s gold interference on the white fur that doesn’t show up.

You mean somethign ELSE in common. He is a big cat. He was my only official ADOPTION. My other 3 where found/strays
December 16, 2007 at 4:57 am #647376THREADJACK! Not on topic so SCROLL PAST MY POST IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ IT!
Mine is a large cat too. Ppl are astounded by him. He isnt fat, per say. He is very tall at the shoulders and extremely long from nose to tail. He isnt built much different from a cheetah’s conformation.Something ELSE yet in common again too! Jester (my kitty here) was an official adoption. My late fiance and I knew we’d never have human kids. And we both brought animals into our union. We wanted to do something extra special and adopt a child together- it just happened to be feline and not human which is what we wanted.
When we walked into the Humane Society foster home into the room full of about 30 cats, Jester and his sisters (all calicos; he was the only male and only B&W) were playing with some track ball circle thing. When Christopher and I walked into the room, Jester’s eyes met mine right away and he was the first kitten or cat my eyes happened to land on too. I believe in fate and signs to a certain extent. It’s all how I feel at the moment Im experiencing what may be one or the other.
Christopher (which is Jester’s Middle name- his full name is Jester Christopher Luca as TS Elliot says cats must have three different names [youd know this if you were either a fan of TS or saw the musical cats]) & I sat down indian style in the middle of the room. I was hoping to find an all black male but there were none. There was a year old black female but she was too shy and would have to mesh with my now late but then dominating calico, Suki (when she was alive and kicking as she was at that time in 97). I really desired a male. Jesse’s personality is what did it for me. He came right over to me without coaxing, pulled himself up my jeans with his little claws on my knee, curled up in the up turned palms of my hands and fell asleep purring.
The foster care mom said this was very unusual for this kitten, for he’d never approached anyone and just cared to play with toys and his sisters, though she assured me he wasnt antisocial and if someone went to him, he was fine and not shy. But she’d never seen him go to anyone with such conviction and chemisty.
Christopher and I looked at each other and said, “oh yes, this is definitely our baby.” When we came home, the families had a huge home coming and party set up as one would for a human baby! All the decorations, etc- the whole nine yards! And each year, Jester’s BDay (Oct 10 which is also my late Gram’s BDay so that was another sign) was celebrated like no other and just as you would a person. Each of our other animals had tiny little BDays but Jester’s was always a blow out, with special cat friendly cakes baked by friends and family that knew how to do that, gifts brought- the whole shebang.
Getting his first name, as with ALL our animals (which was well over 250+ over the years as we had many, many dogs to train for Christopher’s police academy family; they were born and started their lives in our custom built, animal friendly home [Christopher was an architect and built our house with large animals in mind so they wanted for nothing and nor did we), that was my special job. Being the spiritual person I am, and in the meditation room Christopher had built for me, Id take each and every single animal baby in that room and meditate and commune with its spirit, allowing them to reveal the name they wanted. Sometimes it took 15 minutes, longest was over 4 hours. Sometimes I came out and, as always found Christopher pacing each time, like an expectant father, just aching to know the names, but sometimes I appeared so confused because the names certain dogs chose were words Id never even heard before or knew if they existed (they did). It was wild, since I consider my vocabulary rather expanded due to a certain headmaster from 7th-12th grades who was big on it.
Back to Jester. During one of these ceremonies, is how Jester got his name. Mind you, I have a very solid and strict distinction between clowns and jesters. Jesters, to me, are more like Harlequins and unlike clowns, they entertained royalty. I DESPISE clowns and Jester is NO push over (though can be funny). But he is NO clown! Lets just make *that* clear!
One day, Christopher was doing something and we were debating about it. I spoke the words, “what about Jester, Christopher? What should we do with him?” At that moment, both of us stopped and forgot about what we were talking about and had the same thoughts in our heads. C said to me, “are you thinking what Im thinking?” I said, “that Christopher makes a perfect middle name for Jester and just rolls off the tongue?!” We agreed. He answers to one or the other name, both names or Jester C (which is my vanity plate on my car).
His third name we wanted to get from mom’s side of the family and his third name is “Luca”, after one of his uncles (one of moms’ cats- the Lynx Point Siamese that loves everyone he comes in contact with and just has to snuggle up to you ASAP and wants to be in your face for love. You can do anything to this sweet love and he is a vet’s dream patient. He is the master of tolerance and looks like he enjoys even the most unpleasant procedures). He welcomes all other animals into his home like a gentleman, very curious and wanting to love what he doesnt even know! Sweetness personified! And a real looker! I need to find a good photo of him.
I could have made my response shorter but I like to write, so tough! SCROLL!! Get me started on my animals and I have lots to say as they have long kept my sanity and seriously have kept me alive to this day (no kidding; I could leave everyone else in my life but feel guilt only over leaving my Jester and my Phoenix). They have been my saviors on numerous occasions and deserve all the kudos they can get, even if you dont know them.
Thanks for letting me ramble and share about them by hijacking this thread. Now back to your regular scheduled reading and posting 😀
