My cat, Bacchus, took off Friday night and has not come home. I stayed up late Friday, but not late enough. He apparently came and jumped on the screen several times and then left again. I looked for him for hours yesterday and put up signs…had two calls, but no one can catch him cuz he’s so scardey. I slept with both doors open last night (figured the dogs would protect me) and the cat didnt come home. I have even called the PMO and Humane Society, but nothing. He wont come to anyone so I dont think he went to anyones home. I am worried and sad. 🙁 At least he is chipped and has a collar on, so hopefully if someone does catch him, they will take him to the vet. I also put up internet ads on two sites. Maybe that will help. Im sad and upset with myself. I feel like I failed my kitty. He was just introduced to the outside world for the first time and now he is stuck out there somewhere.

You are taking all the right steps: placing signs, looking around town for him, calling the Humane Society. Since he is chipped and collared people will know he belongs to someone. You slept with the door open???? Wow!! You’ve got some good guard dogs! I hope he comes home soon! It’s always scary and sad to have a pet escape!
June 29, 2008 at 7:17 pm #718677Hang in there, ski. I’ve known cats to show up a month after going “walk about.” Hopefully he’ll show up in the next day or so. He’s probably sleeping under a bush somewhere waiting for things to quiet down. Then he will saunder home like nothing happened! Good luck.
June 29, 2008 at 7:18 pm #718678🙁 I hope he finds his way back again, and safely. That has to be such an awful feeling. 🙁
June 29, 2008 at 7:19 pm #718679Yes, I have been letting him out for short spells. At first, just in the fenced backyard. Then he would come out front and sit with me and the dogs… over the weeks he has gone out a little further. Out to the neighbors, out back, now he is probably blocks away. Yes, they are inside animals, but he would sit by the door and howl when I sat out front with the dogs w/o him. 😕 I caved. That will not happen again if he ever finds his way home.
June 29, 2008 at 7:19 pm #718680I hope he finds his way home, or someone manages to catch him for you.
June 29, 2008 at 7:20 pm #718681Oh, that’s so sad! Chances are eventually he will saunter home on his own accord, or if he’s caught by someone, or by animal control, they are supposed to always check for microchips so that they don’t put an animal up for adoption that could have been returned.
June 29, 2008 at 7:23 pm #718682I’m sorry your kitty took off. 🙁 I really hope he comes back soon.

I have a friend whose cat took a year-long walk about before she decided to come home.
June 29, 2008 at 9:05 pm #718685Hope he comes back soon.
June 29, 2008 at 10:03 pm #718686Awww sorry to hear this Ski. 🙁 Seems kitties are troubled this month. I hope he comes back soon! And he is probably holed up somewhere, trying to stay calm. Have you put a dish of his food outside the doors? That is the only thing you didn’t mention I can think of that you could do. I know that other animals may gt into it, but if he sees it maybe he will cry to be let in too. 😀
Good luck! *crosses her fingers and prays**Hugs* <3
June 29, 2008 at 10:41 pm #718687I’m so sorry! Any good news yet? *crosses fingers, toes and eyes that Bacchus will come home safely…*

June 29, 2008 at 10:43 pm #718688When my cat used to be stubborn and refuse to come to the door, I’d tap on a can of wet food outside, or open the can outside. It usually had her running to get inside the kitchen if she was nearby hiding. Other than that, she came to the door and banged on it when she was ready to come inside. Or meowed outside my window.
