Oh wow! What on earth was that?
I wish I knew! Yesterday, I was totally paranoid when driving on that section of the road…
No kidding! I can’t imagine what you could possibly have hit to cause damage like that. I mean, holy cow! The rim? Seriously? I dunno, if you run over a bullet from, say, an elephant gun, can it do something like this? Must’ve been one hey of a lot of kinetic energy involved to take out the rim, and I just don’t see anything non-explosive being able to do this.
(But then I’m no mechanic. ;))

What’s that?
Improvised explosive device
It almost does, doesn’t it?
Dude…..Just Dude…..
I’d sue the city for assault and battery of your car!
j/k
Glad you’re ok! /hugs!
October 4, 2008 at 11:32 pm #734956Wow!!! That’s scary!!!
October 8, 2008 at 3:22 pm #734957Wow! I don’t blame ya for being cautious about driving there again. I emailed my dad, he’s a mechanic, to see if he’d know anything that could do that and am waitin for a reply.

Something didn’t fly at you, you went over it. Probably rebar sticking out of the road. Was it on or near a bridge?

Nope… that’s why it’s so weird.

October 9, 2008 at 2:24 pm #734963Wow Medley!
I was thinking along the same lines as Snap…Maybe it was a railroad spike.
I have never seen that before, and I even worked in an auto shop for 2 years…I’ve seen alot of tires that you wonder what it was they ran over, but nothing that punctured the rim like that!
GLad it was in the back tire, not the front…I’d have hated to see anything bad happen to you, or anyone else on the forum… -
