I have been spending the last few months taming this feral cat. He now comes up to me and will even lay down on my lap. I call him big kitty, but his name is Obsidian..or Sid. I got a collor with a bell on him, and he has flea medicine now(btw bardwing…have you heard of General’s Natures Gaurdian??). He is inside the house now and I wanted to share a photo of him with you guys.
That chair is no small chair for one, it is 3-3 and a half feet tall. See the other kitty on the chair? she is only half his size:
He looks like my cat Mephistopheles. Stoph weighs about 20 pounds and he is long like that!
Obsidian is gorgeous and I love the name too!
That is so good of you to take in a feral boy like him. We did that with Chewy’s momma and now she has a great home (with no kids) and she is well loved by her new owner. All of my cats came straight from the street.
Ferals are a lot of work. Good luck and congratulations for what you have achieved so far. It is so great to see people who love animals helping out the ones that no one else wants!

I have spent a LOT of time with him. out on the lawn everynight with a cat toy to get him used to me being there, feeding him at the screen door, sitting out and giving him kitty treats so he has to come real close and smell me.

Not all blacks are as big. This is my third black cat. my first is a female bombay, she is chubby, but short..and my other black male cat who is OLDER then this one by a year, is old half his size! he looks like such a baby next to the big fella! I will get a photo of them next to one another some time.

YES! right now I am working on getting him used to coming in and out of the house so I can take him with us. he is my cat, and will be coming with us.

oh those claws are big! they are always showing.
He is VERY gentle with me! when he is upset, he has slapped me with his paw…but he never has his claws out when he touched me. he always keeps them retracted. he has never bitten me eather. He lightling put his teeth on my hand…but never squeezed.
kitty needs his nails trimmed. Poor Chair.

The cat from TS Elliot and the Cats Production is Mr. Mistofelees (sp?)
My cat is named after Mephistopheles the character in Christopher Marlowe’s manuscript “Dr. Faustus”
Mephistopheles is the equivalent of a demon or the devil…and since he is so big and opens regular doors, opens cabinets and turns on water faucets..he earned the name. My other two cats are Tatsu (the word dragon in japaneese) and Chupacabra (goat sucker in spanish, a mythological creature that kills livestock in south central america)
Yeah! I am weird…but according to the Cats play..cats need unique names!

What a beast!! Are you gonna get him neutered? I have caught feral cats and gotten them fixed since this issue with the kittens on Coleman. I bet he runs the neighborhood. Hahaha! Even your other cat looks at him in disbelief.

yes! he is going to get fixed….not sure when…but he will. I am not even sure he knows he is a male! I have yet to see him spray anything.

I have yet to see a male cat spray though (lucky me). Are you gonna keep him?
