I wish I could get a loan thru my bank but my debt to income ratio is not good. My main problem is the Durango I bought last year. They dont like the high payment on that thing… neither do I, come to think of it… 😀 But as of right now, because of the inquiries for the Durango… I dont know why there were like, 4 of them, and another account on my credit report that I did not open, my credit is only “fair.” A year ago it was “excellent.” Its gonna take some time to get that rating back. At least I have no late payments or anything on there… just too high balances… who doesnt? 😳

What jerks to start charging interest the day the charge hits the card! I mean at a time like this it seems like good ol’ greed is rearing its ugly head. Remember–what goes around, comes around and banks and credit card companies are no exception! :negative:

This policy has not come into effect yet, but it is being discussed. The other idea is to tack an annual fee onto every credit card issued. It will be interesting to see which policy, if either, will be chosen.

I have an AT&T Universal (Visa) that I have auto-pay set up with them for years and have never had a problem. You set up the date each month you want the $ taken out when you open the account. Which means you could choose the 4th of every month and never have a problem with a late payment.

B of A does not have that option. They said I can do an allotment, but that is a bit too much trouble. I feel I should be able to schedule a payment two weeks in advance and not have to worry about it coming out the next day. In this day and age, that is certainly possible. I do it with ALL my other accounts, but I truly think B of A has it set up this way so that they make more money. Stomp on the little guys, I guess. 👿

I must be the only one who has had no luck with credit unions. I was with one of our local credit unions for a little over a year before I yanked all my money out. I can’t remember all the details, but I do remember I was pissed!! 😆 I went to the nearest bank, which was at the time Premier… which then became BankOne… which is now Chase. Even through the mergers, I’ve never had to change. I’ve been with them for, hmmm, over a decade? I was in college at the time, and I really can’t remember how long it’s been, but I haven’t really had a problem. Just that fee to cancel that check. 😳

My husband is with the credit union because of his car loan. It sucks. We both cannot wait until his car is paid off so he can take all his money out as well.

All my accounts are with Chase — credit cards, loan, mortgage, checking, savings. With just a few clicks, money gets transfered to whatever account I want, whenever I want. Some people don’t like them, but I’ve never had a problem. When I do, then I’ll switch. 😈

I’m sorry…but your banks charge you to open an account?? WTF?? They charge you to do business with them? They charge you so they can make money in interest, in bank charges, in late fees?? That is just ridiculous!!

Most banks would have a minimum initial deposit – say $500 – to open an account. And will charge a monthly service fee if you don’t keep a certain minimum average amount in the account.

We pay an “account analysis fee” on our commercial account because we have more transactions per month than the meager interest on our rather low average balance can cover. Theoretically if we kept a few thousand dollars more in our account we could begin to reduce the analysis fee to zero. It’s not likely to happen.

I understand the service charge fee for having less than their minimum balance but things must work differently in the US because I’ve never been charged a fee just to open an account. And I’ve changed banks 3 times in the last year…
