So yesterday my husband reports he’s heard a little kitty in the yard, and has seen it briefly under his truck, but it runs away when he approaches.
I hadn’t seen him yet. Tonight I go out to feed the horses and there he is, crying his little heart out hiding under our roommate’s truck. So I call out to him and try to coax him out. Of course two of my dogs have to “help”…surprisingly the kitten doesn’t run from them.
I put the dogs inside and try again, kitten runs out from under truck into the open yard and crying and not really running fast goes to the playset. There we play ring around the rosie for a bit until he finally decides to smell me…then he jumped up on the ledge of the sandbox and let me pick him up.
He’s about 5 weeks old, a little orange fuzzball, and was cold, it’s about 32 degrees out right now, but snuggled up and started purring immediately.
I took him inside, fed him some canned kitty food which he inhaled, and even defended from one of the adult cats who is 10 times his size! LOL! Avalanche just kept eating and ignored him, but his little snarls of protest and paw swipes were cute.
He’s gonna need a bath, he’s a bit dusty and has some car grunge on him. He also has a little owie on his face. I’m going to worm him tomorrow with some strongid and give him a bath, but for now I figure he has enough to get used to with all the other pets and Karli.

November 6, 2008 at 5:59 am #738813It is kitty season… except my find was not so lucky. I found a beautiful, blue eyed, 8-week old siamese on the side of the road with a broken spine/pelvis … S/he received a warm bed, some good food and lots of love during the night before I took him/her to the vet to be put down. The bane of living in a city. 🙁 Woe, my heart is broke.
But I want to see pictures of your fuzzy to cheer me up!!
November 6, 2008 at 6:12 am #738814Yes, please post pictures, Kyrin. The kitten sounds very feisty and cute.
Sorry about your experience, Safyre. 🙁November 6, 2008 at 9:38 am #738815I want a new kitty =
November 6, 2008 at 12:13 pm #738816Awww! Kitties are so cute. Warp10 and probably Chinook are allergic to cats, but if we ever had to do a rescue, I think they’d hold in their breath until we’d find a home.
Safyre, hugs!

I second that and also think she is an angel.
November 6, 2008 at 6:08 pm #738821That’s wonderful Kyrin! Pics please!
And safyre, that just about made me cry…the poor baby! 🙁 Siamese are my favorite cats, and all I could think of was my little Suki.Keeper of the Fledgings
November 6, 2008 at 6:45 pm #738822My poor cat, Goblin, just had her 4th litter the night of Hurricane Ike. The kittens were old enough to find new homes. 2 of the 4kitties suddenly got very sick and died in the course of 3 days or less. My boyfriend thinks they got pneumonia. They were having a hard time breathing through their nose, and therefore, eating. I fed one of them with an eye dropper, but neither one survived. 🙁
My dad found a home for the remaining two kittens just a few days ago. We are taking Goblin to get fixed ASAP so we dont have any more monsters running around! I will say though, she is a gorgeous and graceful cat…someone said she is a Russian Blue. And even after 4 litters, she’s kept her figure 😉
Ive since gotten her a little orange SafeCat collar. I love the way it looks on her
November 6, 2008 at 7:49 pm #738823Kudos to rescuing that kitty! I remember when we found a black and white hissy little girl in our stairwell… we gave her food, water, and a little blanket to sleep on until the next day when the SPCA came and got her (I can’t afford to shelter kitties at $250 a piece). The food and the water were gone the next morning, so it’s probably safe to assume she got hungry.
Best of luck with the little one, Kyin, and 🙁 and *hugs* to Safyre!
November 6, 2008 at 10:40 pm #738824Oh, we definitely need kitten pics!!
And I’m so sorry Safyre.
