Yeah Snap, I know the feeling…..(we spent another night at the fricken hospital with Khym last night, and again still noone knows what’s going on 👿 )

When I want to support something or someone, I just make sure I either know the person concerned in real life first, or can see how the project is coming along before I actually invest anything in it. There are too many fakers out there.

Most of my experiences with MBI are from the band forum I’m a reg at, where certain people have pretended to have cancer or other ailments because it’s well known that the artist in question has a soft spot for those who are struggling with something that hard and it ups your chance of a meet or backstage pass. I remember one girl in particular getting called out after enough people had put together enough comments she’d made that didn’t add up to the cancer she claimed to have.

The other disturbing trend in this particular fandom is that I know of a few fans who have disabled children who have pretty much shamelessly used their own kids to get themselves special favours and backstage passes, etc. The poor kids have no idea they are being used and no one wants to hurt the kids but one lady in particular I heard tried to turn a meet’n’greet for VIP ticket holders into a birthday party for her kid, with a cake and stuff. It apparently made everyone else there really uncomfortable, especially since a lot of them didn’t know who the heck either of them were!

It’s a shame that those with MBI ruin things for those out there with genuine problems. I remember a friend of mine had a blog where she talked frankly about her eating disorder and one girl kept accusing her of making it up, trying to get sympathy, etc etc. My friend in question never asked for anything and was the type of person who, like me, would be thrilled to get even just a nice card in the mail *wry chuckle*

Hey, I don’t need to make stuff up – there’s enough crap going on by itself! 🙄

No @(#*&ing kidding. I don’t have to make stuff up, it happens anyway.

Usually the sign of ‘untruth’ to me is when nothing ever gets better. Only negative things are shared.

Perhaps I’m just that private of a person. I rarely air stuff on a public forum, even though I’ve got plenty of stress going on right now I just don’t feel the need to share it.

But I’m with you, when someone is on every day with only bad news, rejects every offered solution and generally never has anything good to say I do start to get suspicious.

Well, I’m not better today, but it’s 98 outside!!!! WTF.
Instant headaches when moving from AC to outside and vice versa.

This is CANADA. We like COLD.

98? We must have switched weather patterns. That’s what the temp is usually around here this time of year, but it’s about 75-80 degrees out right now and my A/C is off.

                Go figure.

I don’t understand people like that. If I want to complain, that is what my bf is here for. 😆

And I don’t want pity from people. That would just make me feel guilty… 😳

Agreed. -30C (-22F) is waaay better then this!

It’s supposed to cool down in a couple of days.. although, I am pining for fall right now. +15C… perfect. So, what’s that 59F? So high 50’s low 60’s… man I can’t wait. Like, really. Can’t wait.

I read this quote I like: “People who distrust the trustworthy attract the untrustworthy. It ain’t pretty. And for those who trust the untrustworthy, yeah, they begin attracting the trustworthy. Better to trust everyone.” But I also think trust your instincts, your gut feelings and your inner judgment. Of course you can get conned, no one is invincible to someone who is really good. But it is still better to be able to trust than not to be able to trust. I can think of almost no existence more miserable than to live a life of true paranoia. Rather than that, I would rather feel sorry for the con who feels that the only way to get along in the world is to trick other people, to live a life of lies. What a horrible life! For me, better to trust and get fooled, than to live an untrusting life.
