I have managed to lock myself out of My MSN, MSN Messenger 7.5 and my MSN mail account.
I’m not sure if this is MSN trouble on my end or theirs. Is there anyone else whose password isn’t being accepted?
I think it’s on my end, but I only have a guess at how I managed that. On Saturday afternoon I reset my IM password since I’d forgotten my old one. I gave IM a different password than what I use to get into My MSN and my mail, and I think that has confused it. Now I can’t sign into any of the three using either my mail password or the new IM one. All three worked fine on Saturday and Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon my passwords were no longer accepted. And I can’t reset any passwords since instructions are sent to my locked account.
Can some savvy kind soul here give me any hints before I have to consult my hundred frank an hour expert? I can’t delete my accounts, either – my MSN address (the one that’s in my profile here) is my “spam address.” I use it for public transactions: E-Bay, PayPal, forums, newsletters and whatnot.

i am assuming you have done the obvious: make sure the keyboard works fine (no cap locks, no num locks), checked out msn’s web site for problems and looked at their faq? do the accounts automatically lock for any reason? have you done a google search for help? i am just trying to think of other things that could help before shelling out the money.

i dont use msn, so i cannot help beyond here. i hope someoen else is on to help you.

My password does involve using capslock, but I’ve tried entering it plenty of times, and I’m sure most of those times I typed it properly. I’ve also looked at MSN’s help, which is fine and dandy but the link for password reset go to my barred address and I can’t figure out how to add another address. Oh, and it claims my answer to my secret question is wrong, which is ridiculous since there’s only one answer to it. πŸ™„

sometimes when i think i am having problems with the cap locks and such, i will type out my password in a text editor on my computer and cut and past the password (make sure you do not get the line return) into the field. that way i will know i typed it and entered it correctly.

from what you are saying, it sounds like it coudl be from their end. have you emailed the help desk from another email? let me look at their faq quicly. i need to avoid writing. πŸ™‚

No, I haven’t e-mailed their help desk. Guess I should do that.
    Thanks, gryphon.

did you get to this page?
    http://support.msn.com/eform.aspx?productKey=messenger&page=support_home_options_form_byemail&ct=eformts#
there is a troubleshoot sign-in issues a little past half way down the page.

Yep, I ran across that page. I’ll do the whole process over again, and then I’ll write to the help desk. I gotta get that mail working again or I’m in trouble.

I’ve mailed the help desk. I hope this works.
Thanks again for your time, gryphon.

Wow, I would hate it if that happened to me. Hopefully you will get it working again.

They said I should have an answer within 24 hours. I’m still waiting and worrying. πŸ˜•

My husband had that problem with his hotmail account. He changed one password and then nothing would work:-/ They fixed it after a couple of days, via email.

It’s relief to know they can actually fix it. That helps, lamorte. πŸ˜› I still haven’t heard anything.
