I hope it gets worked out and fixed quickly…that really sucks. 🙁
August 15, 2008 at 3:16 am #702629AnonymousWell, ok. Good and bad news.
The engineer says the black mold is not growing in my bathroom. It’s being sucked up from someone else’s.
Great, but, problem is I can’t fix someone else’s problem. So all I can do is attempt to seal up my bathroom (fill in around the pipes, caulk the ceiling, the toilet, etc.) and HEPA scrub it.
That’s ONE problem. That one causes my eyes to water mostly.
Issue #2 is whatever I brought with me that is giving me the headaches. I think it’s growing in my portable AC unit. So I need to take it apart and clean it. Hello voided warranty.
Issue #3 is whatever is making me dizzy. Most likely the higher concentrations of the common molds from outside. Once I clean the AC unit I can seal up the windows and fire the AC back up.
THEN I have to wipe down every thing that is left with anti-fungal wipes. I’ve already thrown out 8 bags of old stuff this week. There is still something in my masses of bins that is making me sick on top of the other problems.
So yeah, there is THREE separate issues in this place. I am wearing an N95 mask when I can tolerate it, because while it stops me from breathing the spores, it makes me light headed because I can’t get enough oxygen through it.
Now, let’s run through the week shall we? On top of the house… we have..
…two weeks ago I crashed my car…
…my cell phone died…
…someone stole my laptop on Saturday…
…someone stole my credit card number and used it in Calgary…
…a shelf in my fridge busted and dropped three glass jars on the tile on Sunday…
…my chair busted a leg this morning and dropped my face on my desk……the market value on my condo has dropped $40K in 60 days. Selling it is not an option… (unless I follow it up with a bankruptcy filing)
…my insurance agent said there is no coverage for mold. They removed it 5 years ago because too many claims where being taken. I said I would burn the building down then to collect, and he told me that’s fine, just don’t get caught……………….
I’m not looking for sympathy.. just posting an update. One of those, if you think your life can’t be any worse, hey, look at Snappy! sort of things.
Good thing my boss is so understanding… but if I wasn’t bending over backwards to do my job, I’m sure I would be turfed by now, as I miss so much work and am generally impossible to deal with in my condition.
My friends tell me one morning I’m just not going to wake up. What can I do, go live in a hotel? My “insurance” that’s supposed to cover “being dispositioned from your home” won’t cover it. I have no family to live with, my friends live in smaller holes than me, and besides, that’s not the point. We paid $210,000 for this flaming piece of 700 sq feet hole, I’m going to live in it… even though it’s now worth $170,000.
So if I stop posting, well, I guess I died! It happens.
August 15, 2008 at 5:09 am #702630Aww snap that does suck, I am sorry, I have a friend in Edmonton who bought about the same time as you and her condo has also fallen in price about the same, you are not alone in that boat, although she smokes so much pot that if her place had mold she would have mo clue 😆 .
Of the things you listed insurance should cover at least the computer and the car, and you can file for the credit card. The cell phone, the chair and the fridge just suck monkey butt and I am sorry.
August 15, 2008 at 3:56 pm #702631I really do hope your bad streak will come to an end soon! 🙁
August 15, 2008 at 5:58 pm #702632Aww… bad luck streak 🙁 *hugs* I hope it gets better for you!
August 15, 2008 at 7:51 pm #702633Yikes, things have to get better soon, right?? 😯
August 15, 2008 at 10:22 pm #702634August 15, 2008 at 11:02 pm #702635Yikes! Remind me to not stand next to you during the next thunderstorm in your area! 😯
Let’s hope things improve for you soon!
August 16, 2008 at 12:18 am #702636OMG! But you know what? Your health is more important than anything else. It might be worth it for you to bite the loss and sell. You can’t live like this!

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmAugust 16, 2008 at 6:29 pm #702637I’m sorry, Snap. I hope things get better soon. Sometimes you just have to take it one hour at a time. (In really bad times I’ve taken it one minute at a time.)
August 18, 2008 at 10:47 pm #702638AnonymousI actually could breathe this weekend, until it started raining, then BAM. Like a brick to the forehead.
I fell twice too, once in the parkade stairs, bashed my ankle, and once in the condo, scraped my arm and legs.
If you spin around in a circle like 10 times then try to walk forward, that’s what I feel like.

Strange… that’s how I describe it when my bloodsugar goes low. Crappy feeling.
Unfortunately for you, the cure all isn’t chocolate…
Hopefully whichever condo is causing the mold cleans up their act. And shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the building owners to make the other owner clean up their own damn mess that’s effecting other tenants?
What are the rules for your condo? Even though you bought the place in a private sale, the building would still have rules, right? Something you had to sign? You can complain that someone else is violating that contract… or am I wrong about this? I haven’t owned a condo, ever, so I don’t really know, but that makes sense.
August 19, 2008 at 4:59 pm #702640I’m sorry about your run of bad luck, Snap. I hope things improve soon! 🙁
August 19, 2008 at 7:43 pm #702641AnonymousYes, to the extent of the black mold being in the bathroom, I do have to start a long and drawn out legal process with the Condo Corporation, because it is spreading through “Common Areas”.
It will be up to them to find where the source is, and then force the owner to deal with it.
The rest of the condo is my own problem, and as each day goes by I learn more and more about what is really wrong and how it affects me.
The bottom line is – the molds are everywhere, because I happen to live in a tree abundant neighborhood they are worse, and … *drum roll* it’s apparently my body’s own fault.
I’m being told now that stress is the entire issue. My body is retaliating by keeping my blood pressure down and starving my brain of oxygen, which is causing my headaches/vertigo/fall on my face issues. That is why it happens away from home as well.
If I can’t solve the issues in my life very quickly, I may have to simply bankrupt them off and move on.
On the better side, today is the least amount of pain I’ve had in a few weeks, and I was told I didn’t kick and toss all night for once.
August 20, 2008 at 3:07 am #702642Hang in there, Snap; things have gotta start looking up soon! We’re here when you need us…
