There won’t be a housewarming. I got screwed by the previous owners. This is why I got a “good deal”. Inspection couldn’t find this, I had to move in, get sick, and have my air tested for $700 to find it out.
Now at the minimum the bathroom renovations the previous owners did will have to be completely gutted, remediated, and then rebuilt, all at my expense. Insurance doesn’t cover this.
I can’t live in my own house, it’s killing me from the inside out.
Can’t you go after them for non-disclosure or something?

I got the spore counts today. Keep in mind that the maximum allowable living conditions according to Health Canada is 150 CFU (colony forming units) per 1000 L of air.
Bathroom – 191 CFU / 1000L, and, as an added bonus, if you buy within the next 5 minutes, we’ll throw in the fact that the Stachybotrys (black mold) is actually 10% of the entire air volume in this room!
Hallway – 163 CFU / 1000L
Bedroom – 97 CFU / 1000L and there is a 99.97% HEPA filter running in this room!
Living Room – 181 CFU / 1000L
Outside – 1128 CFU / 1000L ………. for the love of god, don’t open the windows anymore.
I can sue the previous owners if I can prove they knew about it, or if I prove that their renovation work caused this, the latter is actually the most probable scenario.
There is a remediation engineer coming over on Tuesday morning to start ripping holes in the bathroom to find where it is, and what it will take to get rid of it.
