thats exactly what made me respect Pans Laby so much. Of course we could have done with less blood (and I hate the bottle scene), but it was real life violence as found out there at that time. And how it really could be. Now and then.
And the creatures are of an ugly beauty, fairytale and yet flesh eating, something that makes them very real.
IMOThat and it keeps the question open at the end as to whether ‘Pan’ was real or just the musings of a young mind to escape the horrors around her. I like that it is left to the viewer to draw their own conclusions.
They kept true to a lot of the violence that occurred in Franco’s Spain, even as WW2 was closing and settling out. My friend’s sister won’t watch it, because she lived in Europe for a number of years and knows people who lived through that time in Spain and suffered (and she gets easily queasy… she wasn’t too keen on ever seeing Dark Knight either, but anyways….).
Oh, I need to see Bolt, Quantum of Solace and Twilight. So, the ‘sparkley’ scene is a bit cheesy huh? I always sort of pictured it in my mind as ‘walking disco ball’, so I’m eager to see how they did it. π Good to know they kept fairly true to the book though. I hate it when they don’t. Oh – tidbit of trivia I found out – The Cullen crest they use in the movie (got to market somehow!) actually is derived (ie. it contains many elements) that are actually found in the real life Cullen family coat of arms and crest, which I find very interesting. Saw an item for sale and went perusing for the real family coat of arms out of curiosity. Kinda neat to know and I haven’t seen anyone mention it anywhere! A piece of trivia for your cocktail parties. π
November 26, 2008 at 3:19 am #714978I was disappointed in Twilight. Went with a group of friends and not one of us left feeling like it was the great movie.
I don’t have that problem with the Harry Potter movies so I’m not sure what the deal is. No movie is as good as the book.November 26, 2008 at 7:35 am #714979skigod377 wrote:I saw Bolt and Twilight this weekend. I loved both. Even went out and bought two of the 4 books after watching Twilight. I dug em. I love hot, pale, skinny, young vampire guys.
I’m with you Ski. I really liked Twilight and am itching to find out what happens next so I’ gonna buy the books as well. π

If you are a reader, you will devour the books in no time. I’m pretty sure it was less than two weeks for me to read all four-around work and a four-year-old. Happy reading!

I have already read both the first and the second and I only bought them on Saturday. I love the books, too. Easy reading. Now I want the third and fourth.
