Congrats! This looks like a totally awesome house.
My in-laws have a well with sulphur water – they put a filter on, so the smell is not so bad, but it tends to do damage on the appliances. I’m not sure if it was really the water or simply the fact that my mother-in-law is an appliance killer.
I love the pics of the birds! I can’t wait to see more.
So have fun unpacking 😀 and enjoy all that natural light.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

We have wildlife that romps through our backyard too. We had a fox wander through recently but no pix (camera batteries were re-charging 🙄 ) All that light is wonderful; have you chosen where you’ll set up a studio, yet? Congrats!

This house is too small to have a dedicated ‘studio’ room or area, so for now I have my art desk set up by the basement french doors! I can see the birds while I paint.

December 31, 2008 at 9:51 pm #746345Yay!! Congrats. My bf’s mom’s last house used to be on well water. I used to have to bring jugs of bottled water with me to drink when we visited. I don’t mind bathing in it but I can’t stand the smell if I have to drink it. Though hers smelled more like iron than sulfur (though it had that as an underlying smell)

January 1, 2009 at 12:27 am #746347Wow that sounds like an awesome place to live. Makes me want to move from my apartment. My crappy apartment with the view of the renewable fuel factory.
January 1, 2009 at 1:32 am #746348Oh that sounds like a lovely space to work on art! Congrats! 😀
My parents have lived for about 40 years (my dad a few years less) in the house we live in now and just bought from the landlord. Even though we knew what needed to be done on it, there were things that the landlord held off on doing (didn’t want to do unless he had to do it… he wasn’t one of those shady guys… but if he could stretch an extra year or two to do something, he would) and we held off on as well (since the house wasn’t ours and we knew we were going to ask about buying it as soon as dad retired, since it was offered many, many years ago… extra work would mean more to pay to buy the house). The majority of the roof was replaced was the big replacement, plus a lot of upkeep (the house is about 230 years old), like painting all the trim, replaced 6 windows, and a new stove for upstairs. We still need to insulate the upstairs and do repairs from the family that was renting upstairs. They left soooooooo many holes (one room looked like she had bought out a dollar store and nailed everything to the wall!) and managed to kill a bunch of ceiling tiles moving out. Would have saved some work if they hadn’t been so messy and destructive . 😡 Could have been worse, but there are always hidden costs to houses!
