hmm that’s actually usually how it works.. and once everything is paid of for a while.. you’re credit can recover pretty quick.. and if you have to, you can even get more cards later..
which would prolly start things over again.. but still
December 15, 2008 at 8:56 pm #744847I had talked to a compnay out here called loweryourbills.com but it did not seem right to me at least NOT with them I felt like the guy was taking down to me like you are an idiot if you don’t use our product and I did not like that. Maybe I’ll have to try your way if it does not start raining HARD soon
December 15, 2008 at 9:13 pm #744848Just make him a chocolate pie…leave it on his desk without leaving your name, and load it with Exlax… XD
(My dad did that at work since there was a guy who always stole the pie my stepmother sent with his lunch, so he had her make a special pie for him and let the guy steal that peice too.)December 15, 2008 at 9:16 pm #744849We did debt consolidation years ago and they were a joke. They kill your credit score and told us our debt would be paid off in 5 years. Turns out it was more like 7 years. I finally managed to scrimp up enough money to pay off the debt we had left. When I did the consolidation company threatened to take me to court because I had paid off the debt early and directly with the debt holders and not them. They told me they would ruin my credit blah blah blah. I would never use them again.

sounds like you got the wrong one then… unfortunately like everything else you have to really really look at everything before you pick one..

Oh geeze! I hope that doesn’t happen. 😮 After reading all my paperwork I’m getting worried on if I made the right choice.
They DID tell me NOT under any circumstances am I to try and settle the debts with the credit card companies myself and to refer ALL attempts to collect back to them so they can handle it for me. They did also say I should be debt free by 2014, but there’s no gaurantees and it all depends on how each particular credit card company chooses to deal with the idea of a settlement, but in rare occassions they can take me to court to seek full reimbursement if they wanted to.

but with credit card debt a lot of the banks and stuff don’t even bother.. but they are required to tell you anything that can happen.. and that there are no guarantees because.. well like life there’s not guarantee of what will or will not happen..
December 15, 2008 at 10:04 pm #744853Yea, that the same thing I figured. If they COULD gaurantee it then we would all do it, but of course they can’t, I understand.
My friend at work said I’m making a huge mistake too because I could simply call myself and do this without using this company. I guess he had a $3000 credit card and offered then 1,200 to just pay if off and close the account and they did it, but I don’t think they would do that for me unless I stopped paying them all together first. You know? In the mean time I’d accrue a bunch of penalties and my credit would be shot anyway.

some of them might do that.. but um.. can you just pull the money to pay them off out of somewhere?
I mean if you could do that.. then why would you need to?
I’ve never understood anyone that can pay them 1/2 of it right now all at once.. but can’t afford to pay the bill every month..
that’s the point of doing it.. cause you can’t pay the bill and you don’t have a chunk of money to throw at them.. now or later.. and so what if it takes 5-7 years.. because if you just paid what you could pay every month untill it was paid off.. with interest and all that.. it would be closer to 20 yrs…
December 15, 2008 at 10:55 pm #744855Exactly! If I could do it I would, but where am I supposed to get this “lump sum” to try that.
I could MAYBE pull a grand out of my butt right now if I had to, but that would MAYBE pay off my Target card if anything! Then I still have 4 other credit cards to swallow that are all between 8 and 6 grand each! HAHAHA! Yea right! Then I’d also have no savings for emergencies. No no, bad bad!

They told me I could have talked to them and they would have worked something out (of course they told me all this AFTER I had signed up with the consolidators.

please stay away from credit cards in the future , i really hate them sure they can help your credit rating but they can also screw you royal like they did us . Do what we do if you don’t like carrying cash we have a debit credit card with our bank that come straight from our account . the only way we get charged is with using certain ATM’s luckily we can us 7-11 with no charges for some reason
December 16, 2008 at 4:10 pm #744858If I used my ATM card I’d have no money 😮

That’s what my husband and I do. Before we go out anywhere we might spend money I balance up the checkbook. That way I know how much is in there. Then I can keep a rough idea of how much we can spend while we are out. When we get home I balance the checkbook with the purchases. Every few days I access our accounts online and see what has cleared the bank and if I lost a receipt somewhere along the way. I always make sure the bills are paid first, savings is second and then the rest is up to us to do with what we will. It seems to work so far.
December 16, 2008 at 6:12 pm #744860We don’t use credit cards either (hence why I cannot buy a Windstone even if I wanted to) but we do have one with a $1000 dollar limit for emergencies. It is almost maxed out right now because we had to survivie on it when we had no income this past month or two. Thank goodness my hubby got his first paycheck today so that we can hopefully catch back up!!
