We recently purchased a brown Kinglet on ebay that has Melody Pena signed on the bottom. My husband asked about Coa before we bought and she said she had it. When it arrived, there was no COA. When asked, she said she only had one for her Empress. I am wondering if this would be a fake signature. Thank you

The Brown hatching royalty (the hatching Emperor, hatching Empress, and hatching Kinglet), were all signed by Melody and came with a COA.

If this dragon was supposed to have a coa, we should have a photocopy of it, but it won’t be easy to find … unless you know, or can find out the year it was originally sold? The coas are filed by year.

We only have photocopy’s of ebay COA’s. The Kinglet was sold through the store as a LP item, I believe.

Thank you such for the quick response. I have no idea when he was originally purchased. I was most interested in confirmation that Melody did actually sign it. If we can find out the sale date. I would love a copy. Thanks again

I take that back, Pam says we didn’t keep copies of the regular coas for non-ebay pieces.. I don’t know if it had a drawing, or just a signature on it. I just don’t remember!
We haven’t run across any forged signatures yet!

              Just a signature. I checked mine. 🙂

Those are authentic 🙂 I remember seeing it. I’m looking for a set myself. Techically you could send it back because it’s not as described and or “missing parts”. Although those guys are VERY very HTF. In my opinion, they are worth just as much without the COA…then again not all collectors are like me. Some may want it.
Was that the one that had some chips on it? I remember seeing two lately…pretty sure there was a hatching emperor and a hatching empress. One of them had a rough life 🙁

Also, I believe they were sold around 2006

I have run across a forged signature. It was that crudely repainted trio of dragons on eBay a while back – the seller was originally asking $400 and claiming it was signed. After it didn’t sell and she was told it wasn’t done by Melody, she relisted for a much lower price. I went ahead and bought it because I liked the colors, and when I got it, it still had the forged signature. I blacked it out with permanent marker.

My keyboard is broken. I keep pressing "Escape", but I'm still here.

A trio of brown hatching royalty were recently sold on ebay in individual auctions. The descriptions say that the seller only had a COA for the empress, so I’m guessing the kinglet is one of those three.

When checking past auctions I saw that the same seller had a special Autumn Leaf OW as BIN $375. Somebody got a bargain on that one!

It was a Flame, not Autumn Leaf. *shifty eyes* I don’t know who ever that could have been!

Oh, that explains the 5 of 24. The gold areas looked greenish in the auction photos.

Due to the reflection of the blue mat/towel it was sitting on 🙂

I just checked my records and all three were LP and were signed. I probably have the COA for all of them. All COA’s are in one file so I’ll look and if I can find them and I’ll let you know and can fax or send you a copy.

The records I keep list Item, Color, Purchase Price, Retired, Limited Production, Signed, Limited Edition, Only One. I wish now I had also listed the Purchase Date.

Originally I accidentally double clicked on the brown Kinglet and had 2 so I let Bodine have one and I stil owe her the COA when and if I find it.
