Hmmm… I may be alone in this, but I’m not sure naming him is such a good idea? It sets him apart from all the other PYOs. If you don’t want to go with Large PYO Dragon in case you do a larger one later on, why don’t you just call him Medium PYO Dragon? That way “large” is still available for future use, or if you start really getting into the PYO line and do several more, you could always go with names that refer to position, for example: Lying Down PYO Dragon, Sitting PYO Dragon, Paw-Up PYO Dragon, Curled PYO Griffin, and so on.
I like the name you’ve chosen for all the production items, but somehow, I feel that naming the PYOs would, in a way, restrain the way we see them by giving them a pre-determined feel. Because, in my mind, when you name something you assign certain qualities and expectations to it.
Am I making any sense?
“Keeper” does refer to his pose. I think I’ll just call him a pyo Keeper dragon, ’cause he can keep whatever you like. The paw is too small for a real bee, though. It is just big enough for a jewel, or little stone.
These sculptures need names to differentiate them from each other. We try not to name them in ways that could be confusing… such as “sitting dragon”. Then we went and called the first one the “Small pyo dragon”. That was real smart, since its size/name is relative to the other pyo dragon(s).That is the problem with language. Everything must have a title or name, and that limits the way we think! That is a very profound observation, but unless we use numbers, we are stuck with names of some kind!
John suggested “Clutch”. Is anyone here old enough to remember the old “Clutch Cargo” cartoons that were on tv? They were terrible. Talk about a name giving something certain qualities! I don’t want to think of that cartoon series!January 7, 2007 at 7:52 pm #523907Keeper PYO. That’s easy and fitting. Here we go and come up with all these wonderful fancy names and Melody still has the simplest idea in the end. Good thing she’s the one that’s got the final say. π
January 7, 2007 at 9:37 pm #523908I think just “Keeper PYO” does work really well.
January 8, 2007 at 3:12 am #523909That does work pretty well.

Ewww….Now I have to go shower. I have a thing about fleas and ticks. After dog grooming for 5+ years just mentioning them makes me supper itchy. I definatly would not buy a Flea Keeper.I think the Keeper Dragon is the best choice. Then once it’s painted the painter can call it whatever they want.
