I used to LOVE McDonald’s french fries but now they SUCK! I guess they changed the oil they cook them in or something but they just taste so nasty. I miss my old McDonalds french fries 😥

It’s because they are trying to get all the fats out of them to make them healthier and the fat is what makes it taste good. I remember when Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup used to be so yummy and now the broth in it is nasty.
March 21, 2008 at 6:59 pm #681204McD’s changed theirs, and so did Burger King, and overall I am not happy. I don’t eat fries that often if I can help it as it is, but McD’s used to be the best, and now they aren’t. And I have detested the crunchy weird fries BK replaced theirs with since day 1.
I wish I had a Del Taco around here, they still make crinkle fries the way they should be made. Though Artic Circle fries aren’t too bad.

March 21, 2008 at 7:43 pm #681205I used to love McD’s fries too. Around here, Steak & Shake have the best fries, but I think they’re local to Florida….not sure.
March 21, 2008 at 7:48 pm #681206I like New York Fries, they have the best ever 😀
March 21, 2008 at 7:57 pm #681207I have not eaten at McD in years but 30 years ago they where GREAT I also likes BK especiallly working there for a short time 20 years ago. I like Jack in the Box Curlie seasoned fries now but I’ve been bad and gotten their Cheddar Potatoe Wedges instead
March 21, 2008 at 8:38 pm #681208I was so sad when BK changed their fries, but now they have grown on me. I have yet to try the new Mcds fries… the only ones they have here are German and they are always different. But yes, they are trying to make everything healthier since over half the poulation is overweight. I say good for them… esp since I went back to the states after being gone for years and Arbys had so much new, neat stuff! Hopefully the fries dont suck… if they do, there is always Arbys curly fries!! 😀
March 21, 2008 at 8:45 pm #681209I hate curly fries.
*laugh* I’m no fun, am I?
I like fries that are thick, very little salt, and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle.
My all time favorite type of french fry is steak cut.

March 21, 2008 at 8:55 pm #681210I miss the spicy curly fries that Arby’s had a few years back. The new ones are so bland compared to that, but I still eat them.
March 22, 2008 at 3:34 am #681211I got spoiled on french fries in England where they are called ‘chips’. Nothing better in the world than hot crisps right out of the fryer…… *drool*

March 22, 2008 at 3:49 am #681212Red Robin has the very best fries, in my opinion. Thick, crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and they have an awesome mix of spices they shake over them.

Steak ‘n Shake is in the Midwest too. One day, my husband and I drove for 3 hours [one way!] to get to Topeka, KS just to eat there. (pathetic? maybe… but man, it was worth it!)
Now, all the fries taste different. I have no idea what kind of oil they use around here, but I swear it’s not what was used in Omaha. Just about all the food service folks are Japanese, so we end up with some of their cooking variances. 😕 BK is the closest to home, since there’s one on base, but McDonald’s is different since they’re all off base.
I remember liking Chik-fil-a’s fries when I lived in AZ. Waffle fries, anyone? 😀

I was going to say they have the best french fries EVER! I love that you get all you can eat fries too. Back when I was on light duty before I had the baby I would eat there all the time. It was great!
