I have a peacock male dragon that I bought a while ago that is very dull in color whereas my peacock hatching empress is very shiny and has brighter colors. Did the peacock color change over the years?
Also he apears to be rough. All of my other dragons have very smooth scales, his on the other hand seem to have what I can only think of as divits or indents in them. This is very noticable all along the top of his tail, the portion of the tail visable between his front legs, and on the scales right under his wings. Also the lines on his crest seem to have an unfinished look to them, almost like it was going to be smoothed out and pulled back to a different point. Is this normal or is it an earlier version of the male dragon?
Some pics- yes he is in need of being dusted plus my pic ain’t the greatest 😳
(Which reminds me I need to get a quote from Kirin about touching him up)
He is a windstone (I was worried when I first got him because he was so different from my others)

Someone probably has a pictures of two peacocks together. I have several “old” colored peacocks and some “new” colored.
Melody can better answer for the roughness you’re talking about. I would think because some of the oooold male molds had to be individually touched up (eyebrow is the big area) that perhaps he was rough a bit all together? My peacock male is high on a shelf, buried behind other sculptures… otherwise I’d have a look at him.

There is an early version of this sculpture that was rougher in finish than the more polished later version. I can’t really tell for sure which this is from the photo, but my guess is this dragon is most likely one of the rough older dragons. The other possibility is that it was damaged and repaired.
The peacock coloring came in different kinds: “bright Peacock” ,”dark peacock” and some that are in between the two. The Fledgling, Royal hatchers and the Spectrals were painted almost entirely in “bright”, ( there may be a few stray dark ones out there) some other dragons, such as the Orientals, were first painted dark pea and then switched to the brighter pea. The family dragons ( Male , Mother , hatchling, and young dragon) were painted in exclusively dark peacock. We didn’t switch them to the bright pea because most people wanted all the family members to be a matching set.February 7, 2009 at 1:53 am #751207Melody wrote:ariankentara wrote:I have a peacock male dragon that I bought a while ago that is very dull in color whereas my peacock hatching empress is very shiny and has brighter colors. I’ll see if I can get better pics of him up. Thanks for letting me know about the color. I don’t think he’s been repaired but if someone with Kyrin’s talent got ahold of him I probably wouldn’t be able to tell. I got him off eBay for $66.45 including s/h and I was happy to get a good deal. I think the lady said she got him at an estate sale so I’m not too sure about his history. She did say that someone had tried to touch up his missing gold paint but they used a fushia like color. 😮 You can see it by his front feet.
