That is neat, just please be VERY careful. I have a friend who was burned very badly by candlemaking. It spilled on her hand, she had to stay in the burn unit for weeks and she still has trouble. Maybe wear some heat resistant kitchen gloves or maybe some Nomex racing gloves?

These would protect you from the wax if it spilled and they are fireproof.

I know, I am crazy, but I worry about that kind of stuff.

for real….I just can’t get the hang of using one of those…..

Another way to make neat candles with sand and shells is to make an impression in packed sand with your shell (or any object, really), and then pour the hot wax into the depression. When you have halfway filled the depression, put a length of wick in (with the end sticking out of one side of the depression) and then pour the rest. We made sand candles like that when I was a kid ^_^
