If she got hurt she probably would have though.
Usually they ALWAYS chase people if they get all the steps, (selection, concealment, and then leaving the point of sale without paying) but I guess recently they have REALLY gotten a lot stricter with their policies.
A few weeks ago, in a Wal-Mart in North Carolina, a door greeter was killed. While in a pursuit out the door, either the guy stealing or the security or something knocked over the greeter and they hit their head and died. Apparently they were elderly, but if the shoplifter wasn’t running from security it probably wouldn’t have happened. Now every thing is looked at as a potential law suit so they have zero tolerance for ANY foul ups.
I used to manage a Suncoast store (a movie store chain that is out of business now) but I chased down these guys and got maced with animal repellant. I got in HUGE trouble! So many times before that I chased people stealing, caught them probably 7 or 8 times out of 10, but the real professionals that can really harm you were off limits because if YOU get hurt then it’s the company’s responsibility. Cost them too much money and you end up canned. Sad, but true.

This guy didn’t even try to hide it. We saw the whole thing. The guy walked in, was just browsing forever so Ameer came over to “my side” for whatever reason (store was always slow, so we were always on each others side) and we see the guy make a mad dash behind the counter, grab a 360 that was on display behind the counter, and charge out of the store.No, I understand why they tell people not to chase them. It’s better to take the loss then have something else happen. I’m sure any store would rather take a loss of some amount of money then the amount that, like you were talking about, lawsuits.
I just don’t understand why people can’t be honest 🙁 And what happened to the greeter is so sad.

They were allowed to chase people out the doors and tackle them and EVERYTHING. I worked the jewelry counter which was RIGHT in front of the main door that the thieves used to bolt out of, and Amir (head LP guy) used to have me pretend to help him pick out jewelry while they watched the thief load up bags by the door and get ready to bolt. As soon as they crossed that line out of the store Amir would stop them, and if they tried to run he tackled them 😀 I miss that lol
Update! I have a griffin going up in a few hours for discounted short sale and also I got a bunch of Pearl Ex Powders as well!

Not so much they don’t want it, but they sort of owe me for some commission work that fell through and it’s the only way they can pay me back at the moment. By sending that back to me I can sell it and recoupe my losses. We agreed on that and it works out nice and easy for both of us. ^_^
