I just finished this. I love him he’s so cute!
A while back I discovered this AWESOME lynx fur, and I wanted to buy some, I love buying random fur fabric. But this particular one is pelted, so it’s no use for fursuits, and is also veeeeeeeeeeeeery expensive. $130-ish a yard! But I finally realized, that I could get something like a dozen plushes out of a yard of it. If I can just sell them for enough, it would actually be worth it, and the pelting would be ideal for a certain size plush critter. So… I took a chance and bought some.
I’ve actually made and sold two plush lynx Loonakits from it since then, but I forgot to get photos of them! This one was made for a gift, and I finally remembered to take pictures.
He has real glass eyes. They come in all kinds of styles, the first one I did had these creepy super-realistic taxidermy ones. This one is more simplified and cartoon-looking.And the pelting means his belly is lighter! And his back is darker!
What do you guys think? I’ve got one more of these half made right now, which I want to sell, and enough fabric to do a handful more. I’ve priced them at $40 each, which I think is about right for the time involved and the cost of the fabric.

March 17, 2007 at 12:40 am #552378OMG! Those are so cute! 😀 Lynx! I may have to get one in the very near future 😆
That is expensive fabric 😯 I was looking for fake fur online to make San’s (Princess Mononoke) cape/mask and found similarly priced fabric! Sooooo nice, but not this go around. Some day 🙂
March 17, 2007 at 1:11 am #552379If you want nice quality fur fabric that’s cheaper, I can point you at some places. This was the only lynx I’ve seen that I really liked, but for other things, especially solid plain colors, there are lots of places to get good quality stuff at a decent price, more like $20 a yard or so.

March 17, 2007 at 3:18 am #552381It is extremely cute! I think 40 is kinda high…even if the fur is amazing, its just more than most people will pay for a random critter. But gosh that fur is amazing..what a great cape it would make!
AMarch 17, 2007 at 3:25 am #552382I’ve sold two at $40 already, and have orders for another.
I refuse to undersell myself. Those that want them can get them. Those that want cheap things are free to look for mass-produced items, or to buy the $15 cheapy ones I make from leftover scraps. *shrugs*
I mean heck… nearly everybody I’ve ever talked to about it says that the prices on Windstones are way too high for fantasy sculptures. *grins*

I know it’s a fair bit, but… *shrugs* It’s worth it to some people. I mean heck, it’s way less than a griffin chick, and it’s almost as cute. *grin*
March 17, 2007 at 8:02 am #552385SPark, for future refference, when I have more money, I want one! =P

March 17, 2007 at 9:54 pm #552389This one is about 9″ long.
Oh, and I forgot the mention, the $40 is the price with shipping to the US included. I’m so used to that being my standard that I tend to forget to mention that all my prices include the shipping. Shipping outside the US is generally just a buck or two more, these things are light.
