So approx 7 years ago I went to the Texas Renn Faire. There was a guy there selling pendants. You could pick 2 designs-all of which were either animals or celtic symbols. He would put one iron “mold” on a big heavy log on a pulley, hoist the log up about 15 feet and let it drop. The force would stamp your pendant on both sides, with whatever you picked. You could get the pendant in Bronze, Silver or Gold.
Sometime after a friend of mine found a site that sold those pendants. I looked but didnt bother because I already had one.
About 4 years ago, stupid me lent it to my THEN boyfriend, because mine had a wolf on one side and a phoenix on the other, and he liked it. We broke up and I never saw it again. Id love to replace it, but cant find a site that sells them. Ive looked on google and ebay, and searched all sorts of things. I remember the site offered 3 celtic horses in one design, and a stag. I figured those would be unique enough to narrow the search. Ive looked for
Coin pendant
stamped pendant
stamped necklace
stamped coin pendant necklace
celtic coin necklace
celtic horse coin pendant
stamped stag necklace
stamped stag pendant
phoenix pendant…..
The list goes on.Can anyone help me track down a site that sells them or something like it?
I’m pretty sure I have a picture of the pendant. I’ll try to dig it up tonight and post it.
July 13, 2010 at 9:33 pm #821132I don’t know of any website, but I do know that there’s a stand for it at the Georgia Renaissance Faire. The season is over for the year, but if you haven’t found one by the time the next season rolls around I can make a trip to the faire (love going anyway) and pick one up for you. Here’s three of the four stamped coins that we’ve had made. The fourth has a Griffin on the front and a Celtic knot on the back.

Sometimes you can find a vendor by visiting the picnic website……start off with TX faires link http://www.thebards.net/txrenfaires.shtml but if you know it was the TEXAS RENAISSANCE FAIRE you could go to that site and http://www.texrenfest.com/artisans.html look at the artisans listed (usually if they do well they keep going back year after year). That sounds awesome, btw, that they made the pendant onspot using the medieval technique and planishing! Good luck with your search; if I find anything I will be sure and post 🙂

July 14, 2010 at 4:10 pm #821135Poems has the site I was going to post. They are usually at the Sterling Ren Festival in Sterling, NY as well (which I am going to in early August with some friends, if you should want someone to pick one up for you). That’s where I got mine. 🙂
July 14, 2010 at 4:13 pm #821136OMG thats it!! WOW thank you guys so much! I will check out Ancient Circles ^_^ And duh-it never occured to me to think of the renn faire website.
July 14, 2010 at 5:02 pm #821137Looks like the stamped coin images are pretty standard. The ones on that Web site are the ones that Hans Heinen uses at The Coin Mint at the Ga. Renn. Faire.
July 15, 2010 at 1:40 pm #821138Those are so cool! I will have to save up for one!
July 19, 2010 at 8:46 pm #821139There is a coin mint at the Bristol Ren Faire. I will be going back later this season to pick up two of my Midsummer’s Night Dream puppets. If you can’t find what you’re looking for let me know and I can have minted for you, and then ship it. 😀
