I’ve never seen one of these before, a live auction.
Apparently there is a registration process and a 18% premium to the buyer. This should be interesting.
July 11, 2007 at 4:28 pm #598598I don’t know, 18% is really high, if you won it for $50, you’ll pay another $9 in fees, not counting shipping…can’t see as it would be worth it.
So your $50 win could end up costing $75…ouch!
Too rich for my blood.

July 11, 2007 at 7:49 pm #598599I’ve participated in one eBay Live Auction, so if anyone is thinking of trying it and wants info, PM me.
July 11, 2007 at 8:10 pm #598600It’s odd.. but kinda cool, if you’re the seller and know it’ll sell well. It’s like if I took something to the Sell It On Ebay store around here, I’d have to pay the fee… but with Live Auction, the buyer pays… I wonder if the seller still pays a fee…
I’d rather just still with regular ebay though. Unless someone has a green Emp…
July 11, 2007 at 8:35 pm #598601I think the owner of the item gets the bid price and the buyer’s premium goes to the auction house for their trouble. I could be wrong, though. I don’t know much about the finer details from the sellers’ standpoint.
You and I are on the same wavelength. I keep looking at the emerald emp in the eBay stores, but can’t bring myself to pay so much for one:-/ Do you want the old green or the emerald? Now Melody’s talking about a violet flame emp – decisions, decisions…lol

I want the old green. The emerald is beautiful, but after getting a green and having it smashed in transit, I’m determined to get another. Hopefully if I find one, it’ll be the one that has the blue/purple interference down the side. Maybe someone will have one near Christmas .
I’m really excited at the prospect of a VF Emperor. I’d like a Rising Spectral too, but Emps are often more rich in color than some of the other sculpts (my peacock one has really neat coloring).
July 12, 2007 at 6:23 pm #598603Well, I wish you good luck in your search for the emp. What a shame that yours arrived broken: -(
My second choice for the VF would be a riser. I would love all three – OW, emp and riser. All I need is the money to buy them (haha) and a place to put them. I am just about out of room. Anybody want some birds or maybe a kid? lol j/k
July 17, 2007 at 7:36 pm #598604So did anyone win this guy? I tried to log on, but was two minutes too late.
July 17, 2007 at 8:43 pm #598605I think Ski was the only one to bid on it, but she said she didn’t win it. We can’t figure out why.
July 17, 2007 at 8:53 pm #598606From the auction:
“Reserve by the Consignor or Seller-Unless the sale is advertised and announced as a sale without reserves, each lot is offered subject to a reserve and Pacific Galleries may implement such reserves by bidding through its representatives on behalf of the consignor. When bidding Pacific Galleries will use bidder # 23, 50, 444, 900, 983.”
It could have been sold to a floor bidder, but it doesn’t look like it. If the reserve wasn’t met, the seller keeps it and possibly has it put up for auction another time.
July 18, 2007 at 4:56 am #598607I was just annoyed that the ebay time listed on theauction was different than the live auction itself. I missed it completely, but ebay still listed it as live.
