Mine stay out all year.
September 24, 2010 at 9:16 pm #827504If I had them, I would put them outside… if I didn’t fear for neighborhood kids stealing/breaking/damaging them… or if in the backyard the dog somehow damaging it. Those would be the only reason I would keep them inside.
A bear statue in town was stolen about a year back. The thing was huge and cost something around $5,000. If someone has the guts to take that, then a rock dragon would be an easy steal. Also, down the street from me these people (no longer live there) use to put out these huge glass orbs-on-pillars things. Several of them were broken on purpose by what was assumed kids, and after that they stopped putting them outside. It never failed, they would put out a perfect one, and in a day or two it was shattered.September 24, 2010 at 9:46 pm #827505Kujacker wrote:If I had them, I would put them outside… if I didn’t fear for neighborhood kids stealing/breaking/damaging them… or if in the backyard the dog somehow damaging it. I used to live in a really rough neighborhood where vandalism and theft was commonplace 🙁 . I live in a nice neighborhood now, but now I’m jaded.

I don’t live in a bad neighborhood, so to speak. It’s just this town is pretty much a retirement town, so there is zero to do for teens or anyone around that age group. I’m still bored, and always have been. But anyway, teens out here… when they get bored some get destructive. From knocking down mail boxes, to stealing stuff, taking light bulbs and throwing them at house windows, as well as throwing rocks at cars (my mother’s car’s back window was shattered by a rock, and she wasn’t the first or only one) and even using be-be guns on cars and houses.
So yeah. You can understand why I wouldn’t trust a pricey sculpture outside!September 24, 2010 at 11:11 pm #827507Yeah, people are such crazy thieves. It drives me nuts! But I keep my rock dragon in the back yard’s garden so no one can see him from the street. We’ve had flower pots stolen off our front step two years in a row (until we found some nice, heavy concrete ones), and they even pulled up a rose bush right out of the ground! But there is a motion sensitive light in the back, and unless you know the dragon is back there, you’d probably not see him if you were just running through, especially at night. I kinda wanted to put him in the front in hopes of scaring a pizza man or the post man, but didn’t want to risk theft. =(

When you order a pizza, put him outside until the pizza man gets there 😉
September 24, 2010 at 11:33 pm #827509I might put it outside if I had one, I’m just saying I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to having an indoor-only one! It’s a wonderful sculpt regardless. 😀

Hmm, what a good idea…>.>…I will do my best to remember to do this next time we order pizza.
