Oh, I am SO angry. It’s been a hard day, and I take Shadow for his walk, grateful for a few minutes peace with the dog….I know it’ll be a short walk, because it’s miserably hot and humid. I’m coming back by some triplexes when I hear a door open, and I look back to see two boston terriers coming straight at us, not on leads or anything. They get a whiff of Shadow and attack him…both of the little monsters biting at his legs and trunk area. The lady comes out and starts screaming at them..while I’m using my command voice saying, “Come Shadow, Heel.” Shadow is doing his best to listen, coming towards me while he occasionally snaps at one of the dogs when they get him somewhere tender. Thank God Shadow is such a good dog…we got out of there as quickly as possible…I wish I could have chewed the lady out, but I was more concerned with the safety of my dog, especially where his stitches havent fully healed yet. It makes me SOOOO ANGRY when people with unfreindly animals just set them randomly loose. I had every right to be walking my dog through on the sidewalk near a public park. AAAaargh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 8, 2008 at 10:53 pm #721236I was worried for Shadow’s stitches getting torn open…the woman never did get control of her animals…they chased us a small way…I wish they’d gotten close enough for me to give them a swift kick…nasty little biters. 👿 👿 👿
July 8, 2008 at 10:56 pm #721237I was gonna say they would have been a little black and white foot ball sailing through the air if it was me.
July 8, 2008 at 11:03 pm #721238I would be talking to the police or animal control. That’s completely absurd! You and Shadow have every right to be out and about without having to worry about your safety. What would that lady have done if you’d had your kids with you as well? and how would you have been able to protect all of you? (Shadow, children and yourself?) I’d at least file a report, especially since Shadow is still ‘recooping’…

July 8, 2008 at 11:09 pm #721239I agree! File a public nuisance complaint against the lady.
People think just because their dogs are little, they won’t do any harm. Either that or their just self absorbed POSs 😆July 8, 2008 at 11:15 pm #721240I’d go back over there without the dog and have a discussion with the woman. If she can not control her dogs better than that, she needs to have them on leashes.
I’d also point out the possibility of harm to children, and the safety of her dogs is also at risk. A large dog like Shadow who was less obedient could very well have killed those two little dogs.
My old landlord had a chihuahua that came and teased my large shepard mix every day at 11am. One day his goat smashed in my gate and let my shepard out, the stupid chihuahua didn’t run, challenged her and was killed. Thankfully my landlord understood dogs and realized it had been his fault it happened. He shouldn’t have allowed the chihuahua to tease my dogs because that only escalated the problem.
He was angry at first, but after he thought about it, he realized it wasn’t my fault or my dog’s, she only did as her nature dictated.

July 8, 2008 at 11:19 pm #721241You really ought to report this. You or Shadow could have been hurt. And what if you had had the kids along?
Sounds like Shadow behaved very well.
That woman gives dog owners a bad name.
July 8, 2008 at 11:51 pm #721242I would have kicked the dumb dogs. One, they’re attacking my dog or myself, and two, and hate boston terriers.
I’m with laphon1 about reporting it. We have a leash law over here, and while a lot of people with (FRIENDLY) dogs don’t obey it, if a dog off the leash attacks you… that’s def worth reporting.July 9, 2008 at 12:00 am #721243Are you sure the lady actually let her dogs out? The door might have not been closed all the way, and the dogs just pushed it open when they saw Shadow. I know my dogs have done that in the past. Not to attack a person or dog, but to run out the back yard after a rabbit or squirrel. We had a screen door in the back that wouldn’t shut completely sometimes.
Either way, I’m glad you and Shadow weren’t hurt by the dogs. Hopefully, that never happens again! Poor Shadow trying to heal up his previous wounds, so doesn’t need that kinda crap!
July 9, 2008 at 12:06 am #721244do you need a little help, i can stand on the side of the door incase she wants to get snippy , ive been dying to try it out 😈
July 9, 2008 at 12:22 am #721245Yeah, that should be reported.
One of my teachers, who happened to live the street over, had a chihuahua that was killed because it challenged a larger dog – I don’t remember the breed. We were going to get one of our cats put down when we saw the owner in the vet’s office. His dog was torn to pieces practically and was still alive.
Probably the fault of our cat who gave him the confidence booster by running away…. 🙄 the cat was twice the size of the dog.
