Melody sent me a few unpainted chickens (she’s still tweaking them before they go into the store, I think). I really wanted to paint one of them like my barred rock hens. I have two barred rocks and they are extremely personable, and some of the best pets (really!) I’ve ever had. I initially thought maybe I’d paint two like them, but one was enough to give me a fit, so I will probably just do the one!
The black and white contrasting feather pattern actually hurt my eyes after a few hours, so this took me about 4 days! Yikes. That’s a lot of time for such a tiny chicken. I probably won’t do one this intricate again for a while.
Here it is, with my hen “Chickadee”. She tried to bite it a few times, just to make sure it wasn’t edible.
