What’s it called when a seller has a friend bid on their auction to raise the price?
It sounds to me as this is what happened and they ended up winning the piece instead of selling it.?

Shill bidding. Hmmm that might also be the case. If we see that person bid again, that might be a clue.

And we’ll be able to see it since I doubt it will go over $200. I’m bidding on the lil’ guy (love purple) I bought a regular Lil Rock Dragon for a dear friend, so I’ve seen him in person…he’s so wonderful and amazing! But I was wondering too about the auction and why it was re-listed, not even edited. Hmm. If there’s someone that really super wants him, I probably won’t be going too high on him. There’s something else I have my eye on and plus I just won Pearl Sun Dragon #7 (*does dance*) for a lot more than I’d hoped 🙄 but oh well, at least I got one ^_^

I agree though about the LRD-the seller should have listed him higher or put a reserve…or at least put “Windstone” in the title so someone really looking for one might have an easier time finding him.

$370 to post to the UK! 😯 I hope someone on here wins him!

So what happens when someone wins it for less than she wants to make on it and isn’t willing to let it go so she can relist it (again) and try to sell it for higher? 😕 I personally think that the other buyer was extremely generous to let this seller back out of a binding contract to sell the piece at the winning bid. Especially if, as everyone has said, there was no reserve. If a piece went for less than I hoped and I didn’t have a reserve on it, to me that just means “tough cookies” 😆

I think (not 100% sure) that when you enter a bid onto ebay, it is a legally binding contract, backed by the power of eBay. If the first buyer was a legit buyer, that person could easily say “Uh, NO, I won, I’m high bidder, the item is mine now”

If the first high bidder really is a diehard collector and put in a bid of say, $400, but no one challanged the bid up any higher than the $177 it originally auctioned for, I’m sure the seller and buyer could have reached some kind of agreement. “Yes, I know the LRD is worth more than $177, but I’m willing to pay up to $400, lets compromise somewhere in the middle” as opposed to “Yea, I bid $177, but I know its worth more than that, so I’m going to let it go and see if it gets up higher”-which sounds like a fraudulant or at the least, non-serious bidder in the first place.

Either way, this is a bad situation and I’m predicting that after this, the seller would be lucky to get $177. If it sells to someone here, I hope they hold the seller to the final auction price. If the seller wants $XXX amount, a reserve should be placed on the auction, or a BIN.

That’s what I was thinking. There are many, many perfectly nice people out there who would still not want to pay more for the piece than their winning bid and/or let it go to be relisted. I hope everything works out for the seller and buyer, though… it’s a very pretty dragon 🙂

If you want a certain price for it, then use the reserve feature or simply list it at the price you want for it. I surely wouldnt pay more than I won it for.

I’ve suggested to the seller (seems to be a he?) that they should amend the shipping rate because it’s not accurate to what was quoted to me and it would help avoid more inquiries to the seller about it. It might be that they chose the fastest method for shipping and thus it would be the most expensive, for 1-2 day shipping.
