I think we’re just really noticing it here right now. With the CDN dollar at par with the USD now things are quite expensive cause the buisnesses are still useing the old prices. For example, say a book here lists the USD price as $7.99 but the CDN price is $10.99. The price was set years ago when the CDN dollarwas only worth roughly 70% of the USD. with the increase, manufacturers haven’t adjusted the prices, which means anyone who lives near enough to the border can get things for almost half price if they cross the border. The rest of us are stuck with relitively high prices

I know you are not set up as a foundry, but there are some good ones in Utah, and I’ve been salivating over the idea of the male dragon, old warrior and male griffin in bronze (the metal; though a paint scheme in bronze would be cool too 😀 !)
twindragonsmumWe have always thought about doing some bronzes. We took a trip to Joseph Oregon, http://www.josephoregonartists.com/. to check out the bronze foundries that are there. Bronze casting is pretty expensive to do in this country, but I still would love to, some day. That is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid!
I would LOVE to see them from you!!October 24, 2007 at 10:23 pm #628364foxfeather wrote:I think we’re just really noticing it here right now. I know the store I work at is supposed to be selling magazines at the US price. The cards have a $.50 coupon. Um, now I can’t remember, but, we are in negotiations with the companies. Trying to get them to lower prices so we can too.
October 25, 2007 at 1:37 am #628365I have to admit that I have a fondness for bronzes, especially those that depict action or flow of movement. Here are some of my favorites:

I have always desperately wanted to get into sculpture with the final destination being hot bronze casting. It’s just very cost prohibitive to do so at my level of financial stability (i.e. none!!). Someday! I love stability and ability to create dynamics with bronze and am very attracted to the permanence and timelessness of it all.
There are very few fantasy bronzes out there of any quality (the only ones I know about are the small collection from the Franklin Mint, and perhaps a few sculptures from individuals). I am skeptical of the market for it since it is a pricey thing to get into, but I’d love to explore it.
If Melody ever comes out with any bronzes, I’ll be saving my pennies for them!

Ohh this one reminds me of the “War Eagle” statue outside of Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum at Auburn University. The only link I can find to close up pictures of it right now is this one.
