Oy, Snap!
I can see both sides here. You were making a point, and ridiculing DM for pitching a fit because you made an honest if rather blunt observation. This made your point the first go around.
When you pursued it and continued the ridicule after your initial point, others felt it was moving from making a point, to cruelty. While I realize you don’t mean harm, your blunt style of communicating can easily be taken the wrong way. Especially considering we can only read the words as written and don’t hear the tone or humor meant.
I think everyone needs to take a step back and not get so wound up. One of the things we know and accept about Snap is that he will tell it like it is and what he thinks clearly and with no padding. Everyone has their own style, Snap is a “rip off the bandaid” kind of guy. While us girls are a bit softer and more round about.
This is actually a demonstration of the differences in communication styles between men and women here. So let’s take it all with a grain of salt, and try not to get overly offended. I take my cue from DM to a certain extent, while he did get a little upset about what was said, he still responded to it, and continued to respond to Snap’s comments down the thread without obvious rancor.
So while he may have been a bit hurt about how Snap said what he said, he seems to have understood Snap’s style, and isn’t taking it too personally and holding a grudge. I suggest we follow that path.
No more squabbling, or I will have to get out the paddle! Sheesh!

DM, I really do hope that things work out for you. It sucks to have a main job that depends so much on season. What also stinks is that while you may not be actively seeking Windstones at the moment, they are like any other addiction- very hard to give up. But Im sure that if you were in the position then (when anything of value was purchased), that you are now, that certainly your priorities of the house would come first.
Wish this wasnt happening to you and I hope that youre able to come away from this unscathed and without having to part with any of your lovelies. If it does come to that however, my sympathies. But IF things do happen for a reason, maybe it will open up for good things in the future.
I wish you all the best and though Im rarely around here anymore (like so many others), I hope you dont leave. I know how much you love (or once loved) it here. Im sure youd be missed. There are ppl here that I miss simply by choosing to stay away myself.

You are demonstrating that it’s OK to stomp your feet like a 4 year old and say you’re going to “leave the forum” after someone has made a genuine and sincere, but HONEST comment…
…but when someone makes fun of that act, IT’S WRONG.
I was laughing earlier but not anymore. Hey, maybe I’ll leave. Is that a joke? Am I kidding? Time will tell!!!
Speaking of offending… GUYS DON’T WANT TO READ ABOUT THE CRAP THAT LEAKS OUT FROM BETWEEN YOUR LEGS or other “miscellaneous” women’s bodily issues BUT YOU POST IT UP ANYWAYS. Do I post in every one of your threads and complain about it? No. People come here looking for nice discussions about Windstone and see that junk, you think they come back?
Not to offend anyone but this is why I work with a bunch of men. When I did work with women everything was so dramatic and I just couldn’t take it. Working with a bunch of men is so much easier since I don’t feel like I’m walking on eggshells all the time. DM I hope you can get things worked out. I really hate the way the economy is right now and how much it is hurting everyone.

Haha! This is so true. I say this AS a woman– the majority of women are just SO catty and make it very hard to work around them. I always made friends with the guys at all the jobs I’ve worked* and generally avoided the women!

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 20, 2008 at 8:35 pm #733118What does /wrist mean? Nevermind… think I figured it out.
Snap, are you and Frozen pals? Just wondering…
DM, if you are having financial problems, then why dont you sell your stuff? We all run into financial woes. In case you have not noticed, we are a small group and we sell stuff back and forth to each other. Your stuff will come back up for sale later when the buyer has a hard time and you can possibly buy it back. Anything you want… except maybe the Autumn Leaf SK… will be back up for sale… its only a matter of time. If you are not willing to sell collectibles to keep your house, then your situation cant be as bad as all that.
As for the leaving thing, I have to agree… you have said that like, 5 times, and (like me and a couple others on here) you have not left. Take a break for a while but dont say you’re gonna leave. You always come back.
This is in general: We dont have to like each other, but we can at least be nice…except to liars who are out to fleece the forum, or course. You cant post and then get bitchy when the opinion you get doesnt coincide with your own preconceived notion. Public forum means public opinion and you cant pick and choose who will respond. If you dont like the opinion, get over it…but if it hurts to read, then you may want to look at it again… the truth hurts, so they say. Lots of folks will just agree in order to be liked and its not helping. Nothing wrong with saying: get a job, sell your stuff, stop adopting animals when you cant afford it, stop breeding mutts, Stop blaming others for your own stupid descisions. But no… everyone wants to be nice and it only hurts the poster in the long run. Im not saying to take the filter off your mouth, but we can at least be truthful while we are tactful. And I must say, if there is a person on this forum that you dont like, then avoid their topics altogether. They wont say anything you want to hear and it will just tempt you to post mean comments over and over and over again till the point is lost and you end up looking like a jerk even if you are right and they are so oviously liars or idiots who deserve to be called out.
September 20, 2008 at 9:23 pm #733119Amen to that, Ski. That sums it up nicely for everything in general.

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmSeptember 20, 2008 at 11:08 pm #733120I dropping what I said, although I agree with the whole, tell people what they need to hear, you still don’t need to resort to insulting. Which is what I was arguing.
Now I will just drop it all and I’m not responding to this thread anymore (it just makes me get annoyed and I don’t like getting annoyed, especially at Snap, he really is harmless 🙂 )
Sorry Snap. 🙁 Forgive me for being evil mean person (yes I have a temper and some topics or comments just… gah).
And Snap, friendly word of advice. Never joke about /wrist. Ever. It’s not something you should joke about. You want to find out why it pissed me off so much that I ‘stuck my head in my ass’? Then PM me or call me (you have my number) and ask.
September 21, 2008 at 12:44 am #733121My closest, best friends have always comforted me when I was down and out, lent a shoulder when I needed to cry, and kicked my ass and told me how it was when I needed the advice. I respect that greatly. The best advice I get usually makes me grind my teeth, but once I get over my stubbornness I realize that in the end their being blunt with me was a special form of trust- trust that I wouldn’t get (or stay) mad at them for telling me how it is. And you know, that sort of advice saved my life once.
Not everyone likes this sort of thing- telling it how it is. That’s understandable; everyone is different and many people cannot accept critique. But even if it disagrees with you– well, that is part of the beauty of the free world. Not everyone has to get along and that’s cool as long as no harm comes from it. 🙂
Insults are a very personal thing. An insult to one person is a joke to another person is a boring comment to a third person. A pointed personal attack is one thing, but other than that ‘insults’ and being offended vary from person to person.

I wouldn’t say “pals”.. but we do get along… I didn’t make him say it… although I pretty much agree with what he said 😈
September 21, 2008 at 3:49 pm #733123I got on to check the forums this am and this is what I read? Frankly, every post I read has a valid point. From Snap to Ski to Nam, etc.
I never blamed what has happened to me on anyone else but myself. I got myself into it, I can deal with it. I came here to get it off my chest. I knew it was my fault. I didn’t feel I was whining. I didn’t say I was gonna leave. 😛 I know I am not everyone’s favorite, but, I usually try to play along and get along. 8)DM, you should sell your Windstones. They will bring you more money than the others…If you still need money. But, sometimes(Mostly about money), you do whine alot. *shrugs* We all have bad days, weeks, months, whatever. 🙄

This.
Especially if you’re in danger of losing your home. You can buy them back when you fall on better financial times. Keep your house, sell the dragons. You have more than $4000 sitting on your shelves right now.
September 21, 2008 at 6:35 pm #733125I usually make things worse with my big mouth so I’ll keep it short. Snap was rough, but it is kind of warrented so I’d have to agree.
DM, I’d suggest selling some (not all of them) but enough Windstones to keep you afloat. We all hate doing it, but they are replacable statues that, in time, when you recover financially you can probably replace. It’s heartbreaking, but where are you going to be keeping your vast collection when you no longer have a roof over your head to protect them?
I’ve run into tough times, but when I start REALLY fearing money issues, you’ll most def see my Windstones popping up in the Flea Market. Until then, I don’t consider myself desperate enough for money.
Got a busted Windstone?
