Wow, DM, I am so glad you are ok. I know the financial crap is gonna take a toll, but at least you are alive. Soooo many who have bike accidents are not.
April 1, 2009 at 10:51 pm #758698You are SO lucky! Someone was watching over you thats for sure! My husband got 2 or 3 broken ribs from going over his handle bars at 10mph in the driveway…….I’m guessing from the bills you did not have insurance?
April 2, 2009 at 4:00 am #758699I have insurance but no one else was involved so if i report it to them, I will also have to report it to the DMV, it goes on my driving record and will raise my insurance
April 2, 2009 at 12:40 pm #758700Ah yes, ofcourse! Addig insult to injury so to speak! Sucks all around! Atleast you were not seriously injured!
April 2, 2009 at 2:39 pm #758701My arm is already starting to heal but my leg is going to take some time. I can’t put much weight on it after laying down or sitting down for a while. After walking on it a bit it gets MUCH better but is still a limp and VERY sore. I soaked in Epsom salt last night. I wonder if I’m going to be able to work at my 2nd job this week. Stocking and straightning shelves and take it’s toll on a body in this condition. I’m worried about the lower shelves and having to crouch down for a long period of time, then try and walk after that
April 4, 2009 at 6:27 am #758702This is terrible, but its very lucky that you weren’t more seriously hurt. It sounds like your guardian angel was working overtime! Hang in there…
April 4, 2009 at 11:35 pm #758703well all I can do is wake u day to day
I now owe the IRS more then I ever thought possible with no way to pay them either. I may have to sell some things soonApril 5, 2009 at 2:18 am #758704That’s so scary!! I know it sucks to deal with the aftermath but I’m glad you’re ok! @_@
April 5, 2009 at 3:02 am #758705Oh I am so sorry to hear this! I didn’t see this until now, but I am glad that you have insurance on your phone, and I am so glad that you are alright overall. I hope you are healing up well! *hugs*
April 5, 2009 at 8:29 am #758706I’m so glad you are ok!! 😮 ( I used to work on the orthopedic ward of a hospital and most of the patients there were there due to motorcycle accidents and most would never ever recover! I learned to hate motorcycles!! The gas mileage just isn’t worth it! 👿 ) You might want to check on your insurance. If the accident was deemed not to be your fault, ie, the car ahead slammed on the brakes giving you no option but what happened, etc, the insurance shouldn’t raise your rates except maybe if this is not one of a whole string of accidents that they have had to pay for. The DMV will still require a report but it will be on the insurance record as a nofault accident and even though the insurance will still have to pay for the damage, the rates shouldn’t go up. I’m not an insurance person, but it seems like it would be worth checking out anyway. I think that’s the way it works, anyway! You can do the checking anonymously too. Just a suggestion! Hurry and get well!!! 🙂
April 5, 2009 at 3:45 pm #758707Thanks for the ideas but I’m doing MUCH better and healing well for it still being less then a week. I’m MORE upset that none of my “FRIENDS” have called or contacted me. I have only told a few since I lost a lot of contacts losing the phone. I think it was mostly my fault for some reason I was going to fast knowing my exit was coming up but I think I was sort of put in a trance seeing all the tail lights backed up which does happen there some times so I was going too fast to make the turn by the time I had to. I did not wait for the police to get any sort of report made up since I though the bike was ridable and only needed cosmetic things and adjustments done. There is a group that i’m associated with that helps bikers that can’t afford repairs or bills due to accidents so I’m going to fill out all that paperwork and hopefull get a grant for up to $1500 to get things back in line. I’m going to try at least
April 5, 2009 at 5:33 pm #758708As long as you are okay, the rest can be dealt with.
Talk to the IRS, believe it or not they do work with you to get some kind of payment plan in place.
I think $350 for bike towing is outrageous, it only cost $80 for a car, so WTF? I’d contest it!
As for the doctor, don’t you have insurance from work as well?? If so, quit being stubborn and go make sure you have no permanent damage.
*hugs* Things will get better soon.

If I had called them I’m sure it would have been less but that was the rate $175 an hour since it was a CHP dispatch. PLUS they went over the top to help me get home and get the bike to the shop 2 days later when I had no other way.
I’m doing well right now and have WAY too may other things to worry about like that fact that our contract just expired and we could be going on strike any time now with no money coming in at all
I spent most of the day sleeping today and once I get moving I can almost walk without a limp at all
I’m not even sure what sort of health insurance we have anymore since they have changed so many things there latelyApril 6, 2009 at 4:00 am #758711Blackdesertwind wrote:😮 OUCH! sorry this happened to you DM!
