I got a good package, and honestly, with my skills and experience, I’m sure I can find something pretty quickly.

The question is, what do I want to do? I really want to write, but part-time jobs that would cover half of what I make now (and I’m very well paid) aren’t that common.

          Freelancing?

          It’s time to reassess.

Alas, Windstones will for a while on the no-no list!

I’m so sorry to hear that, Medley. Lots of luck for finding a new and better job. Even if you liked the last one, you can always still hope for better.

I am sorry to hear that losing ones job is always awful. I hope you find a better one soon and don’t have to lose your house or anything for that matter that would be worse.

I’m so sorry to hear that. (Surprised as well, but, I guess that there are job cuts in more than the industrial areas.)

I hope you can find some job close to what you had before. Writing would be cool, but, I don’t imagine that it pays that well.

Oh man! I’m sorry to hear that! Best of luck in whatever you choose to do. Take a few days to breathe and figure out what is best for you at this time 🙂 *fingers crossed for good luck to come your way*

Boy, do I know how THAT feels! 🙁
But I’m with Necron on this one. I got laid off a little over a year ago due to a contract change. Ironically, just prior to that, I had applied kinda half-heartedly online for a consultant’s position, and hadn’t heard anything from them, so I figured it was a dead issue. Then out of the blue I got a phone call to interview for that same job. Reader’s Digest version: Got the job, MUCH better pay, better hours, and I am one of the few that can honestly say I LOVE MY JOB! 😆 But if that contract hadn’t been changing, I would never have bothered looking in the first place.
So, yeah….nothing happens for no reason! Reassess what you want to do, then GO FOR IT! Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
{{HUGS}} and good thoughts from NJ!

🙁 I’m sorry medley! I hope it does turn out for the best, though it has to feel rotten. Maybe this will be a good chance to get published. *crosses fingers for you*

Well, keep your fingers crossed for me. Today, I worked on a proposal to do a job share with one of the translators who kept her job.

This would mean that we would both be working part-time (which she’s been doing since she returned from mat leave) and share the salary. They were really open to the idea, so my (and her) hopes are high.

This would be the best of both world: work for a great company at a great location with people I love, and have time to write!

I’m thinking this would be confirmed at the latest at the end of May, before my official last day – May 30th.

This had been a really stressful week, and I can finally start to feel relieved. I may actually have time to browse all the forums. Lately, I just come in and check very quickly stuff and don’t take the time to read… sorry! 😳
